Conservative Republicans are talking enthusiastically about Mrs Palin as a White house contender next time, acknowledging that if a week is a long time in politics then four years amounts to several lifetimes.
"Sarah's the one," said one leading conservative." The party is broken and only she can fix it. We need someone who comes from outside Washington and relates to the aspirations of ordinary Americans."
The Alaska governor, a heroine of the Religious Right for her uncompromising stance on abortion recently said that unlike Mr McCain she supported a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
Mrs Palin has also contradicted Mr McCain on policy towards Pakistan, over drilling for oil in Alaska and on de-listing North Korea as a terrorist state. While some believe these illustrate her uncertainty over policy, others sayr she is the Republican nominee. (for 2012)
She has also made clear she was unhappy with the way she has been "handled" by the McCain campaign, which kept her out of the media spotlight until it felt she was ready and then arranged a series of interviews with network anchors.
But Alex Castellanos, a leading Republican strategist said that Mrs Palin could have a bright future. "It depends if she can return to being more than someone who rallies the conservative base.
"For a while, she was much more than that. She represented Americans frustrated with failed government in Washington. She wasn't just a conservative, she was a populist. She was President Harry Truman, she was that Maggie Thatcher figure.

I think she would be a rock star in Iowa and especially New Hampshire
If McCain wins he may be a 1 termer. I like Jindal/Palin. Two outsiders, concervatives. I felt bad for Palin I don’t think she agrees w/McCain on most issues.
Says volumes about the brilliance of the voting public.
If Obama/Biden win, she could start her world tour over two years. The spotlight will follow her everywhere, as hard as the media tried to turn her image into a Dan Quayle (it wasn’t too be... her on TV is big ratings... just look at how SNL prospered this weekend with her appearance).
With her personality - she has far more star power potential than Obama.
What a coincidence, those people just happen to be the ones that have been screwed over by the RINO's for years. Well maybe they have woke up.
As for claims she lacks accomplishments, I'd suggest taking a look at her biography on Wikipedia (granted I wouldn't use it for a scholarly paper, but it's more reliable than the MSM). When it comes to results and executive experience he's not even in her league. (Double points to Sarah for her former sports reporter career!). There's also several instances detailed of her taking on corruption in both parties.
BTW, If you want a real hoot, look at Obama's Wikipedia biography. Comparing Palin’s and Obama’s biographies really crystallizes how much of a ticket punching empty suit he is.
Indeed it does, too bad at that point she will have been Governor for 6 years which is plenty of time but I just dont see it happening..
Or Pawlenty
Sorry, but I think they know all to well what his real stripes are.
“Some voters will only vote McCain/Palin because of Palin in 2012.”
That’s me. I am not a “Republican” or a “Democrat”. If Sarah is not at the TOP of the Republican ticket in 2012, they can kiss my vote goodbye.
P.S. McCain is going to win Big Time so Sarah will have 4 years to show us what she can do as VP. If she is as good as I think she is, she will have a major impact on policy and be a shoo-in for President.
Horsesh!t! Sarah has taken the worst the MSM could throw at her and shoved it right back in their faces.
You’re acting like we’ve already lost. McCain is going to win and win big. Why do you think the polls have “suddenly” gone up for McCain? Just the MSM and pollsters covering their ass. They’ve exposed themselves as unreliable at best and completely compromised at worst and need to try and rebuild their credibilty before the election.
That’s an excellent point, McCain would need Palin if he only serves on term.
She should at the minimum become a U. S. Senator, from whence she would go for the Presidency.
That the Dems and libs are so feverishly attempting to destroy her at this point shows that they quite well realize her great abilities and attractiveness to the public.
