Palin addresses issues on television interview
Republican Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin addressed issues yesterday relating to Latin America, including Hugo Chavez and illegal immigration, in her first interview with a Spanish-language network. The interview began with Univision anchor, Jorge Ramos asking Palin to clarify recent statements she and Republican Presidential candidate John McCain have made, characterising Senator Barack Obamas tax proposals as socialist. Palin denied ever having called Obama a socialist directly.
The interview quickly turned to US nemesis, leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who has repeatedly claimed the US is planning to attack Venezuela. However, Palin said military action was a last resort. We hate war. We want peace. We want through negotiation and sanctions if need be to put pressure on a dictator like Hugo Chavez, to let them see that they will not mess around with America the way that they want to, she said.
The governor also addressed illegal immigration, saying she and McCain supported a two-pronged approach of securing the border and then working with undocumented workers already in the US.
There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants.
We - our policy - John McCain has been so clear with his policy and it makes a lot of sense too.
We secure our borders first. But then with a comprehensive approach we must deal humanely with those who are here, and we must allow the steps to be taken to protect the families of those who are here, maybe as illegal immigrants today, she said.
McCain has made an effort to reach out to Latino voters, a constituency that could prove key in swing states in Novembers election. Latino support for the Republican Party ebbed earlier this year following a bruising battle over illegal immigration. - Reuters
Nope, like I said, Baldwin is the only one of the current crop of losers that doesn’t make me feel like hurling, so he gets my vote.
“Nope, like I said, Baldwin is the only one of the current crop of losers that doesnt make me feel like hurling, so he gets my vote.”
Wow, as a former democRAT I do not agree with a lot of Mccains issues but I am willing to put my differences aside to defeat Obama.
Voting for Baldwin (whom I never heard of) is a vote for Obama!
The HP must be loving this thread right now!
NO WAY am I going to let you single-issue zealots define “conservative” solely as purity on immigration - an issue that has barely come up in this election.
I’ll fight to my last breath the re-Birchification of the conservative movement.
Gawd, sometimes FR seems filled with drama queen single-issue nutjobs.
I’d say that if a person agrees with most conservatives on taxes, spending, foreign policy, energy, the courts, the culture, and a whole array of other issues, but has a differing view of immigration, that person is STILL a conservative.
The nativists have stolen the word. It’s time to steal it back.
Shows your agenda.
What's Palin supposed to do? Refute the policies of the man who selected her to be his running mate? Wouldn't CNN love that.
Please, please, don't let Obama, the MSM, and Saul Alinsky win by using your values against you.
Sure you have. Longtime freeper, new name, still the same pansy-ass, apparently.
Maybe we can clean the GOP, maybe we can’t, but we’ll never find out if Obama wins.
America will be destroyed with Obama and Farrakhan running things.
I am going to take my chances with McCain-Palin, and hope that they will stand and deliver a more prosperous future for us.
Obama's taxes will wreck the economy, and he will take a "slash and burn" approach to the Defense Department.
Can you imagine Obama handling our military and nuclear arsenal?
Do you own guns? Do you know how difficult (if not impossible) it will become to buy guns and ammunition in the future under Obama's Stalinist gun laws?
I will not scream and shout for you to vote McCain-Palin, but I will remind you that America will be systematically destroyed underneath Obama-Farrakhan-Reid-Pelosi.
She rejects his “no drilling in ANWR”. She rejects his opposition to the FMA. Apparently she accepts Amnesty.
If Duncan Hunter aspires to nothing more that a Congressman for the rest of his career, then I also hope he stays just the way he is. If he plans on moving up the ladder, he will have a fight on his hands. If all he has is a right hook, he will be beaten senseless with a woman’s left jab.
We stopped them once...we can stop them again.
Besides, the way our economy is going, many illegals are self deporting.
sw
Interesting analogy, but I don’t see how it supports your recommendation that Hunter should begin lying.
You’ve got to ask yourself, how bad is this election when lots of conservatives are voting for McCain, hoping that he’ll kick off and leave Palin in charge? It sounds like a bad episode of the Twilight Zone. Take a look at some of the other conservative websites and you’ll see what I mean. One guy even has a little graphic he puts up about McCain’s skin cancer and how he’s only got a couple of years, at most, left.
Kind of brings back memories for me of 2000 when Mel Carnahan was killed in a plane crash while running for the US Senate seat in Missouri. The Democrats ran around, exhorting people to vote for his widow, Jean Carnahan, who was vastly unqualified to hold the office, to show their respect for Mel. She won. The Republicans had a conniption fit over that, but apparently it’s okay for some Republicans to encourage other Republicans to vote for McCain/Palin because they’re hoping John will kick off and leave Sarah in charge. I despise hypocrisy, regardless of whether the hypocrite has a D or an R behind his name.
Besides, John lost my vote because of the way he screwed over his first wife many years ago when he divorced her for Miss Money Bags. A man who could do that to a disabled woman, who he had promised to “love, honor and cherish in sickness and in health”, would have no qualms about screwing over his fellow countrymen. Indeed, his whole amnesty nonsense is absolute proof that he will.
Look, that might work with some people, but it won’t work with me. My vote won’t be counted for Obama, so it won’t go to Obama. Get over it. You can’t browbeat me into voting for McCain. In ways, I despise him more than Obama.
What was it? We must hang together, if not we will surely hang separately?
You should know pissant, at this late stage of the game, the Obama folks are running scared and as this is an extremely hot button for the base....
...THEY WANT TO DIVIDE US....and then they will win!
For mercy sakes folks, DON'T LET IT HAPPEN
I too want to see the transcript!
