Obama's numbers in OH stink, and PA isn't much better. He's hurting in FL. McCain's putting on the pressure in NH, WI, MN, IA, CO, VA and rumor has it even MI again. And McCain/Palin are just now employing their ad blitz. Life is good, and barring a major October/November surprise the lightweight Marxist has been defeated.
But we still have plenty of work to do. There are a bunch of vulnerable freshmen Dem representatives in the House. The GOP has about 20 realistic pick-up opportunities. See my list below:
AL-05
AZ-05
CA-11
GA-08
IL-14
KS-02
KY-03
LA-06
MS-01
NH-01
NH-02
NY-20
PA-07
PA-08
PA-10
PA-11
TX-22
TX-23
WI-08
And my personal favorite! PA-12 (tough, but doable thanks to Murtha the Marine smearing racist)
Details on these races (website links, voting percentages, fundraising numbers, etc.) are here spread throughout this thread.
The current count is Dems 233, GOP 202. The Pubbies unfortunately do have to defend a lot of seats due to retirement. To retake the House they'd need to basically run the table on defending those seats and win about 16 of those above pick-up opportunities. Possible, but not likely. However, a solid McCain/Palin win in this anti-incumbent environment could provide enough of a push. And just cutting into the Dems' current 31-seat lead, after months of them gloating, will be very demoralizing.
If you've been thinking about donating your time and/or money, now's the time.
There is really not much there yet. Keep the faith.

Thanks!
Are they? My wife and I don't actually have TV hookup of any sort (cable, or even antenna), so we don't see or hear about what ads are running anywhere. We get all our news off'n the internets (which is probably why we're not demoralised). Is McCain starting to spend some of this massive horde of funds he and the RNC supposedly have saved up?
Yes. There have been several articles and FReeper testimonials :-) to his ads being aired in VA, FL, MN, NH, probably PA and OH. 527s are active in NV, CO, NC, LA and MI. The RNC pulled back to concentrate on protecting the red states, so you can imagine they’re focused on VA, CO, NC, OH, NV and FL.
Hey there...what part of NC are you in?
Rocky Mount, here.
I talked to the folks at McCain HQ and they made it abundantly clear that they intend to win NH. FWIW: it’s the middle of the day and volunteers are there making calls.
Channeling the spirit of Eeyore again, I see.
I don’t doubt that. Otherwise McCain likely wouldn’t be going to Manchester (although NH does have a Senate race and two competitive House races). Did they mention anything to you specifically about NH advertising?
I’m in the depths of the sewer - just outside Chapel Hill
Eeyore was a upbeat, too-joyful optimist.
You have my sympathies!
Then it will get worse.
OK, that does it. I'm going to jump off of the--
Damn. I usually say Transco Tower (Houston) when I'm threatening to jump off of something, but I'm nowhere near it.
I need to think of something to jump off of now.
Just that it will continue as long as the money holds out.
It is clear that the Democrats have far more money available than we do, and yet, they are unable to fully account for its sourcing. I heard yesterday that over $200 million of Obama's donations have no readily apparent source, and because The One rejected public financing, they don't have to be as transparent in disclosing that information.
Of course, if we did not live in Political Bizarro World, the NEWS MEDIA would.. er, uh, maybe possibly, kinda/sorta be interested in this story. But apparently they are all too busy trying to book tickets for the Obama Inaugural parties in January to look into it.
Yeah, and Tigger was gay.
