Sorry - courts need personal jurisdiction over people to hear cases involving them, which translated means: Courts need the power to hear a case against X.

This personal jurisdiction can be acquired in various ways, but it typically involves “service of process,” which we all know about: A messenger hired by the plaintiff shows up in from of Obama (or a representative) with a copy of the complaint...

But it’s a bit tacky to do that if the Defendant is at his grandmother’s deathbed...
