Reciting all the messianic nicknames given to Barack Obama, such as "The One," "The Savior," and "The Messiah," NBC's Matt Lauer, on Monday's "Today" show asked the Democratic presidential nominee, how he will "manage" such great, "expectations." During an interview, aired in two parts in the first hour of "Today," Lauer rarely hit Obama with a tough question, instead choosing to focus on recent campaign highlights such as all the recent endorsements for Obama from Colin Powell to the Washington Post.
In the later portion of the interview Lauer recounted the biblical descriptions of Obama:
People have called you "The Savior," "The Messiah," "The Messenger of Change." The expectations have been raised to such a level. Some people say you're partly responsible because of your confident attitude. If you are, as you just say, lucky enough to be elected the next president are you going to have to consciously manage expectations, during the first several months of your administration?

As long as zer0 derisively scoffs at plumbers and other working class people, McCain can hit back with some lines of his own: “Matt Lauer asked my opponent if he could live up to expectations of being a ‘savior’ or ‘messiah.’ Obama didn’t even reject those words, or show any humility at all. He really has delusions of grandeur.”
The McCain campaign can use my words and I won’t even charge them. ;)
Yes the backlash? If they allow one. Say the Osiah just wants to deploy his SS gaurd around to those of us who are speaking badly of the Osaih? I don’t trust the people in this country. There are to many will accomplices.

Obamessiah DOES think he is the new Messiah --- he only wants people to have a little patience b/c even the Obamessiah needs some time to save the world.

He does not ever pretend to decline the "Messiah" title out of false humility.

Allowing the backlash has nothing to do with it. It is a destiny of destruction for these people that cannot be controlled nor stopped by any way by any man or men.
He will be in such a shock that he will withdraw and do nothing. He will be paralyzed with fear.

I’m afraid of a guy who doesn’t chuckle and say, “Hey wait, I’m no Messiah...” when someone refers to him as “the Messiah”.

Manage expectations? Lauer needs to read up. Socialists with Messianic issues don't have to explain anything, to anyone. Free speech is not encouraged. 'Haters' will be set straight.

First, lower expectations. Next - explain why more sharing and spreading of wealth is needed by a greater number of people. I’m sure it will somehow be Bush’s fault.
