I checked on my parents: elderly (+65), Married, AGI of $100K. Result - under Obama, $353 more, under McCain, $1152 less. Wow, just wow.
My parents get social security and a pension. They checked theirs too, and said that they would be paying more.
I’m skeptical, too.
Make no mistake, I calculated MINE, and it boasted in RED what a *taxcut* I would get. But, on theirs, it is all in black type, and only mentions McCain’s taxcut sort of as an afterthought.
Putting our income in, it shows that we’d get more of a cut under Obama. Even if that’s true, it’s beside the point. The point is that we don’t want to take more taxes from those persons who actually create jobs (i.e., small businesses) and the ones that create the most jobs are those in the $250k plus range. It’s an economic issue, not a personal issue, though most people will look at these numbers.
It is interesting, however, that retirees will do worse under Obama. That’s very significant and something that needs to be looked into.
That said, these sorts of things are basically wild guesses. The President doesn’t set tax policy, Congress does. I expect that even Obama’s plan will look much, much worse when the Dem congress gets ahold of it, as will McCain’s.
Paging AARP! Paging AARP!
To those that just don’t get it......Obama wants to raise taxes on companies making over $200,000. When this happens, those companies will raise their prices to cover the additional taxes. The little guy will pay those higher taxes (basically, it’s a tax increase on the poor).
What a bunch of crap. Obama wouldn’t ever lower ANYONE’S taxes.
My calculation stated if I worship 0bama and take a mark I will get a BIG tax cut.
I would bet anything that I have that gas taxes would be raised under Obama. Is he gonna say this isn’t a tax increase? Of course the increase in gas prices due to a permanent ban on drilling can’t technically be called a tax increase.

A little better info, if you’re an accountant
“”””I’m going to trust info from a site called “Obama Tax Cut”? Not hardly.”””””
DOUBLE MEGA DITTOS!!!!!!!
I do wish some organization would put together a simple set of charts comparing McCain’s taxes to Obama’s taxes in all categories. Namely-—
Income tax
Corporate Income Tax
Windfall Profits Tax
Capital Gains
Capital Gains on sale of house
Death Taxes
Social Security
Medicare
Gas Taxes
etc, etc
Even on that alchemy today site, it’s hilarious!
It’s in HUGE TYPE right at the top:
“Your Obama tax cut will be $4426.76”
But underneath, in much smaller type:
my taxes in 2009 will change by -$5272.82 under McCain.
LOL!
If I used our income without hubby’s combat pay exemption it would be nearly $2000 saved under McCain.
In fact, I tried just about every income level and guess what: McCain’s tax cut is better for everyone over $100k married with two earners and over $50k for married with one earner!!!
That is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen! I think they’re hoping that people only see “YOUR OBAMA TAX CUT” and don’t pay attention to the rest of the page where it clearly shows McCain is better for just about EVERYONE!!!!

So...what is alchemy? Making gold out of lead! Never happened. Waste of time and energy! Kinda like listening to obama.
You are missing the irony. I found this on a pro-Obama forum, where they boasted the Tax Policy Center is NON-partisan, so I thought for hoots I would check my parents’. Oddly enough, Obama supporters were NOT commenting on this. I guess they thought noone would check other than average AGI’s, for average people.
I agree, his allegation that NOONE making under 250K will pay more taxes is a boldface lie. I checked a single senior making $75K. Result: $683 more under Obama, $767 less under McCain. And, believe me, I think his plan is a laughable farce, and a slap in the face to many Americans.
Is this tax before or after the Bush tax cuts expire?
