Here They Come. Democrats gone wild.
Weekly Standard ^ | Oct. 27, 2008 issue | Matthew Continetti

It's time to face facts. In-your-face liberalism is about to make a comeback. And this time it will be on steroids.

Next year the Democrats will control both houses of Congress, most likely with comfortable, perhaps filibuster-proof majorities. If there is a Democratic president, too, Washington will host one of the most liberal governments in American history. Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid are more than ready to make staggeringly liberal changes in the country's economic, social, and foreign policy.

Obama says Washington needs to "invest" tax dollars in alternative energy, infrastructure, health insurance subsidies, and education before it starts worrying about deficit reduction. Paul Krugman writes that "now is not the time to worry about the deficit." Pelosi wants Congress to pass another $300 billion economic stimulus package by the end of the year--even though the previous $300 billion Congress spent last winter had no discernible effect. The GOP has been horrible on spending. The Democrats will be worse.

“This government land grab of our economy scares me more than anything else going on.”

And what do you think is going to happen under an Obama presidency with a far left Dem Congress?!

Correct. The 3rd Party people have no idea how the culture, our heritage, our democratic capitalistic system will be altered by a dictatorship of Dems just for 4 years. The SCOTUS will be changed. Tax and spend policies will put the nation into deep trouble but voters will always vote pocketbook selfishness and with the Govt. doing all, they will get used to it. This idea that people will get tired of cradle to the grave is pure hokum and does not understand human nature. Stop the socialist pacifist BHO now or regret it for generations.

‘Amen’ Unless we stop this dictatorship of Congressional swamping with liberal socialist pacifist Dems, the future is very bleak no matter who is Prez.

you are wanting to cause damage to the country for some social experiment which probably won't work

Almost right, it's more like I am so angry about the socialist experiment in nationalization that is currently destroying our country. I think it actually is quite telling that so many are willing supporting a man who supports the government buying into our oldest financial solutions--deciding which ones live and which die. A man who thinks the government's place is to buy up mortgages of people who bought more house than they could afford--and then give these same fools a break on their monthly. WTF? Honestly, WTF?

“Unless we stop this dictatorship of Congressional swamping with liberal socialist pacifist Dems, the future is very bleak no matter who is Prez.”

But it’s dramatically worse, if the President is Obama, who will rubberstamp all the far left notions of the Dem Congress, regardless of its impact on our national security.

** I'm voting for Barr...**
You may as well vote for rosi o dumbass.. same difference. a vote for anyone other than McCain is a vote for liberalism period. Why let the leftist communist socialists take over our country? please.....

If these anti American terrorist appeasers gain power it wouldn't surprise me if they burned the US constitution moved the white house to San Fransisco and adopted the communist manifesto to replace our Constitution..

From your home page:

"What I believe in:

* No government interference in lawful citizen’s lives
* free markets
* liberty is hard to gain and easy to lose...and nearly impossible to regain
* rational thought
* lean government
* personal responsibility
* the golden rule
* a united America is stronger than a divided one
* any belief worth having will stand up to debate
* religion is a personal matter
* laws to protect us from ourselves are wrong
* you’re right to believe what you want, right up to the point that it restricts my freedom."

Unfortunately, in 2008 as in 1992 and 1996, a vote for a third party conservative candidate (who will garner only a handful of votes) is effectively a vote for the Democrat, in this election, the zerObama.

The only one waiting in the wings in 2012 will be Obama and the 'Rats, and the sheeple will give them another term because they've voted themselves largess from the public treasury.

The type of government that will come out of RAT control of House, Senate, White House, and Supreme Court will be a self supporting death spiral.

By that I mean, as you said, the people will vote the RATS in again because government money will be all they can get with a "no private sector" job economy. This is just what kept the depression going in the 1930's and early 40's.

It will be a death spiral because there will be no way to snap out of it. Taxes will be high on the few making any money above subsistence level. Real jobs and careers will be rare. Government tax revenues will be sharply down and declining as the tax rates go up. Eventually the government will not be able to keep going and it will collapse as it did in the CCCP.

better to eat half a loaf with McCain and live to fight another day, or die of starvation with Obama

Don't do the wrong thing for the right reason. A person may feel good about their "integrity" voting third party, but they will guarantee we get exactly what they do not want.

How many babies will be aborted because more of our tax money pays for it?

How many people will lose their lives because terrorists have free reign?

How many people will starve to death because the economy was taxed into stagnation?

How many people will freeze to death because Obama wants us to commit energy suicide in 10 years time, ....etc

Better to get McCain and fight his liberal tendencies in the trenches.

"Don't do the wrong thing for the right reason. A person may feel good about their "integrity" voting third party, but they will guarantee we get exactly what they do not want. "

Good analogy.
Many don't realize or they would not be debating/arguing about it.
It's wasted energy.

We have work to do in the trenches even today.
Emails, phone calls and faxes.
Talking with loved ones, friends, family and then strangers everywhere you go.

The left lived through 8 years of Bush to emerge stronger than ever...we can live through 4 of 0bama.

The left lived because there was no concerted effort to
oppress/repress them, do not make the mistake of thinking
that it will that easy for us...

With McCain we might have a chance to get maybe 50% of what we want, depending on how much he can push through a 'Rat-controlled Congress with control of cloture in the Senate. It may not be much but we'll have a chance to appoint our people to important government posts and the judiciary.

With Obama we'll get nothing. Zero. For all the talk about The Messiah being bipartisan and "reaching out", he has no history of that. If anything, he's the quintessential partisan 'Rat. If he wins big he'll tell his opponents to go pound sand, as all the 'Rats do when they run everything. More than that he'll send his goons out after anyone who dares question him. Look what they're doing now to Joe The Plumber, and they haven't won anything yet.

So, we have our choice, get half a loaf and live to fight another day and something to build on for the future, or get nothing with Obama and starve in the rubble. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I don’t buy the SC argument. Four years of Bambi will get us one or two justices, but it will also get us 8 years of a real conservative pres (just as the reaction too Carter was RR). That president will appoint more GOOD and RIGHT justices and the net net will be conservative positive. Doom and Gloom is designed to prevent us from ACTION.

I am very sympathetic to your argument. That is what I used to believe, and I almost withheld my vote to GW based on that logic.What changed my mind is that there is no guarantee that there will be another Reagan. We can hope, but it is far, far from predictable. What is nearly 100% predictable is that with a Dem pres and congress we will get entitlement programs that we will never be able to remove.

Isn't it true, too, that due to the ages of the justices, almost certainly the next pres will get two nominations? And there is no such situtation for the following pres?

Bottom line for me is that McCain is a likely disaster in many ways, but Obama is a certain disaster, and who is elected in the next cycle is not really knowable now.

Not really. If your vote gives zerObama the presidency, all of those things that you value will go down the tubes.

If zerObama gets elected, I hope the conservatives on our Supreme Court have plenty of protection. Wouldn’t put it past zerObama’s brownshirts to murder them (simple drive by shootings) so zerObama can appoint leftists to the SC.

If you have a suggestion to how I can vote McCain and still have my voice heard I am all ears.

There will be over 130 million votes cast and whether you vote for Barr, McCain or the Tooth Fairy, no one will "hear" your voice. My suggestion is to get over yourself.

I am voting Barr .. and in actuality giving a vote to a marxist muslim metro pos w/the destruction of the Constitution as his objective.

My kids really applaud your 'principled' stand.
