McCain calls Joe the Plumber, invites him on the trail

MELBOURNE, Florida (CNN)- At a rally in Melbourne, Florida Friday evening, Senator McCain revealed he had called Joe Wurzelbacher.

“I talked to him this morning for the first time ever,” said McCain. “And I want to tell you his sprits are good and he’s a tough guy. He is what small business people all over this country are all about. They are tough and they are good and they want to get ahead and they want to keep their money.” McCain did apologize to the Ohio resident for thrusting him into the media spotlight on the night of the debate according to McCain press secretary Brooke Buchanan.

The night before he called, he appealed to Joe on CBS's “Late Night with David Letterman.” “Joe, if you’re watching, I’m sorry,” he said into the camera.

Buchanan did say that the Arizona Senator invited Ohio’s most famous voter to meet up with the campaign but did not set up any specific stops.

McCain has a rally in that state on Sunday but Buchanan said she didn’t know whether Murzelbacher would appear.

When asked why he called Joe, Buchanan said, “I think he just wanted to reach out to him.”

Whether Joe is there in person or not, he is certainly a star at McCain events. McCain urged others at the rally to contact Joe and share their support. “Send Joe an email and tell him you are with him, ok,” said McCain.

And the crowd definitely seemed to be full of Joe supporters as well as John supporters, with people at the Melbourne rally were wearing tee shirts with a picture of a name tag on them that said, “My name is … Joe the Plumber” and holding signs about Joe like one on stage that said, “Joe’s dough, not Obama’s.”

I agree!

We are at a historical crossroads: do we stay the U.S.A. or do we become “France”?

This issue was crystalized in a miraculous way in Joe the Plumber. Or, more accurately, in OBAMA’s ANSWER to Joe the Plumber.

Obama clearly revealed that he is a flat-out Marxist. That is what is facing us on Election Day.

Power to the plungers!

Joe the plumber’s question that extracted from Obama the revelation that he wants to “spread the wealth around” is just the beginning of the argument we must make.

Next we must get the voters to understand that the “rich”, the declared enemy of Democratic Party tax policy, are, functionally, EMPLOYERS, and that taking from them simply raises the prices of goods and services, CREATES unemployment and stifles future jobs. In short, THERE IS NO WAY EMPLOYEES ESCAPE THE DAMAGE OF TARGETING EMPLOYERS THROUGH TAX POLICY.

How can the economy grow if money is extracted disproportionately from the sector that initiates all growth?

Note to Republicans: every time someone uses the word “rich”, we should say, “oh, you mean our nation’s EMPLOYERS-the ones who sign all the checks?” We must not miss an opportunity to rescue the word “rich” from the pejorative status it now occupies.

Spot on: JOE IS THE ECONOMY.

This is so rich. Not only did Joe’s question cause Obama to come out of the Marxist closet-—on tape, indisputably-—it also demonstrated how completely IGNORANT Obama is on what a small business even is.

His real name is Sam

That's a real good one, since Joe is his actual middle name. God forbid he choose to go by his middle name instead of his first. FRAUD! /shake head

If the zerOids have their way, we may have to be plumbers, since the big zerO has put them on notice that they will not be able to expand or make more money.

I have this sinking feeling that there will soon be an expanded list of jobs no one will want to do for the measly return that will be available after taxes.

"Being mayor of a small town is sorta like being a community organizer - only with real responsibilities." - Governor Palin

"Being a small businessman is like being a community organizer - only you actually provide jobs that contribute to your community." - what Joe the Plumber essentially told Obama

"I'm Joe the Plumber's friend, and I vote." - what I told a Republican pollster last night

I don’t think it could ever be a one day story when a candidate for President of the United States states his worldview by paraphrasing the most famous phrase Karl Marx ever wrote.

“From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” So sayeth Obama Marx.

Joe the Plumber is a sharp guy and his encounter with the Messiah has proven a positive for McCain. But this is also something McCain can overdo, and the MSM will definitely point that out and make it their lead story for a few days.

Not sure McCain has good instincts about about what to emphasize and how much, as his suspending his campaign and talking about postponing the first debate proved. Few people now think that was a smart move, and many tab that as the beginning of his slide, which he has only now begun to recover from.

Joe the Plumber will probably help for a few more days, but McCain will need something other than Joe and earmarks to allow his supporters to drag him across the finish line.

she says the democrats are for the little man (eye rollage).

Well it's pretty sad when one party can claim that a good portion of their base is on the govt dole. I'd be willing to bet that 90% of people on welfare are in fact democrats.

Some posters on the Texas Darlin site are claiming that Senator Government said at a VA rally yesterday “Gee, How’s busineess, Joe?".

Does anyone know of a video of this floating around the web? Sounds like Hussein is bragging about how he his goons are crippling Joes' ability to do business.
