(HONOLULU, HI)(October 17, 2008) Obama nemesis and author Andy Martin filed suit in the First Circuit Court in Honolulu today seeking a court order to open Barack Obama's secret birth records.

"One of Obama's most controversial and contentious issues that he has allowed to fester for years is the question of his birth certificate," says Martin. "Obama has posted at least two versions, maybe more, of a 'certificate' on the Internet.

"I want to see a certified copy issued by the State of Hawaii, not one issued by the State of Obama. Why Obama won't allow direct access to his birth records is beyond me. But the closer we get to discovering the truth about Obama the more we understand why he is terrified of that truth.

"What is Obama hiding? Frankly, after being in Hawaii and conducting our first round of interviews, we think we have a clearer picture of what Obama is concealing, and why. We have more research and interviews to conduct before we can announce our opinions.

"In the meantime, I filed a lawsuit against the State of Hawaii to require the state to open Obama's birth records. The Governor and Director of the Department of Health are named as defendants.

"The case has been docketed as number 08-1-2147-10 and assigned to Circuit Judge Bert Ayabe.

"We will distribute copies of the lawsuit at a Saturday morning news conference, as well as making them available on a limited basis Friday evening upon written request. We will hold the Saturday morning news conference in front of the courthouse to provide additional information.

"Friday evening I will be available by cell phone from AlaMoanaBeachPark.

"We will issue a news release later Friday with details of Saturday's news conference.

"The basic question remains: why is Obama trying to hide his life from birth to adulthood from the American people? Interestingly, we think we also know now why he has virtually imprisoned his white grandmother and refuses to allow her to appear in public. Who is the man behind Obama's mask? "Next week, we believe we will be in a position to remove Obama's mask and confront him with the truth about who he is and what he is.

IMO, the certificate provided by the campaign is a legit certified short form COLB, and the guy was born in Hawaii (does anyone really think the birth announcement in a Hawaiian newspaper was faked by a woman who had just given birth in Kenya?); however, that doesn't mean that's all there is to the story. I think it's the long form that Sen. Obama is trying to hide, and as long as he keeps people wasting time on the short form, it's just buying time for him.

To clarify, here's the info on obtaining the Short Form record, even if meaningless. From the Hawaii State Department of Health Vital Records website:

Who is Eligible to Apply for Certified Copies of Vital Records?

A certified copy of a vital record (birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificate) is issued only to an applicant who has a direct and tangible interest in the record. The following persons are considered to have such an interest:

• the registrant (the person whom the record is concerned with);
• the registrant’s spouse;
• the registrant’s parent(s);
• a descendant of the registrant (e.g., a child or grandchild);
• a person having a common ancestor with the registrant (e.g., a sibling, grandparent, aunt/uncle, or cousin);
• a legal guardian of the registrant;
• a person or agency acting on behalf of the registrant;
• a personal representative of the registrant’s estate;
• a person whose right to obtain a copy of the record is established by an order of a court of competent jurisdiction;
• adoptive parents who have filed a petition for adoption and need to determine the death of one or more of the prospective adopted child’s natural or legal parents;
• a person who needs to determine the marital status of a former spouse in order to determine the payment of alimony;
• a person who needs to determine the death of a nonrelated co-owner of property purchased under a joint tenancy agreement; and
• a person who needs a death certificate for the determination of payments under a credit insurance policy.

I haven't found the procedure for obtaining a long-form record, though. I don't know that it's held at the state level--in many places, it's either at the county or hospital.

We already know there was a birth announcement but it doesn’t say where Jr was born. I am more curious about the address listed in that announcement as it is not associated with either the Dunhams or Obama Sr.

They tried to get FactCheck to do full page, flatbed scans of that certificate (as was done with the Kos and the FTS CoLB's ) and they never even replied to the requests. That's important to note. With flatbed scans the new FactCheck CoLB could be fully compared and contrasted with other (genuine) Hawaiian CoLB's.

Not only that, the border on a microfish doc would would not be exactly perfect with the swirls and all. Those borders word be hand replicated, not computered. One has to burn a plate from a layout first before printing the blank document creating the original form(s). We already have a 1961 COLB from scanned from a different baby. Only 3 sets made for that in 35 years ³17 years for those documents. The @ (rev plare code) number is also in the corner for the COLB's in Hawaii.

Get a flat bed of BO's reported COLB and someone else's from 1961 in Honolulu. You can't miss it the differemce.
