In small towns in olden days people who were evil were shunned. In today's times, they are celebrities and held in esteem. A murdering terrorist can be honored by people who have no morals or consciences.

Like Ayers has ever really cared about his country...or anyone in it, for that matter.

if someone would trace the lives of the Weathermen, SDS and other members of 60’s/70’s radical organizations dedicated to the overthrow of the government, I am quite certain you will find many of them as today's professors, church leaders, editors/publishers, bureaucrats and sitting in Congress.
All of the names are available by using a Freedom of Information request with the FBI.
I also suspect that few, if any, have changed their basic beliefs favoring communism/socialism and destroying capitalism.

We are each others keepers.
Did that apply to the people he was trying to kill?

Sounds very socialist to me.
An unrepentent bomber and murderer is NOT his brother’s keeper.
A behavior as old as dirt — to hide an evil motive beneath a worthy one.
God is not mocked. Only God knows Bill Ayer’s heart.

The outrage is palpable here in Nebraska. Scott Voorhees, on station KFAB in Omaha, just predicted on his morning show that Ayers will be "dis-invited" on the pretense that the school could not guarantee his safety. He predicts that some official from the school will claim that the school has been receiving anonymous phone calls from right wing kooks threatening to blow up the school or some other such nonsense, when the real reason will be that too many alumni and large donors will have called and threatened to pull their funding of not only academic programs, but athletic programs as well.

I truly hope that their alumni donations grind to a stop, and that they pay a stiff price for this stupidity.

I was waiting for this one. My daughter lives in NE and says she’s buying a Husker flag and flying it upside down at half mast.

We are each others keepers. "...except when it comes to PIG cops and firefighters, war criminals such as uniformed service men and women, profiteers in private capitalist business Enterprise, or fascist Republicans and Nazi conservatives. They are fair game to maim, bomb, rape, rob and pillage"--Ayers

UPDATE TO THE STORY It came out on the news last night that the University has cancelled Ayers speaking engagement. This is from the news story posted at tv station KOLN/KGIN (a local CBS affiliate) :
"The storm of controversy swirling around the University of Nebraska - Lincoln campus should calm now that UNL has canceled Bill Ayers' speech in Lincoln.
Although the Illinois professor was never convicted of any crimes, his ties to domestic terrorism had some outraged about his visit to the Cornhusker state.
Though Ayers' has been canceled, university officials said no state money would have been used to pay Ayers for his visit to Lincoln."
Here is the link to the story posted on their website if you want to read the whole story: University Cancels Ayers Speaking Engagement.
I did not see where they gave an actual reason for canceling, but by the amount of people threatening to withhold donations and such, it's fairly easy to guess.
