FDR presided over the mess for over a decade, and he (traditionally) gets the credfit for "fixing it" -- which really happened under Eisenhower.

Fixing it happened before Ike became President. It happened under the Hitler and Tojo regimes.

The traditional view is that WWII pulled us out of the Great Depression while FDR was still in office. I happen to think that the economy was not really healthy even after the war. Eisenhower dismantled parts of the New deal and I think that’s what really got our economy moving again. But Eisenhower gets little credit for that. Instead, people give credit to FDR, Tojo, or Hitler.
