TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A University of Arizona student fatally shot two men who forced their way into his off-campus home early Thursday, Tucson police said.
The 23-year-old student was in the small backyard guest house where he lived several blocks north of the university about 12:30 a.m. when two men in their 20s came to the door and forced their way in, police spokesman Sgt. Fabian Pacheco said. The student armed himself with a handgun and shot them both, then called police.

This is AP, so I have heavily exerpted it. There does not appear to be any connection between the student and the criminals, nor did the police find any evidence of criminal activity at the home.

Finally, somebody who knows how to defend themselves!
Thanks for saving the best for last.

Perfectly legal in AZ. Open carry is also legal! (most places)

Slowly, but surely, more people are choosing to defend themselves and their loved ones, rather than dialing 9-1-1 and cowering.
Socialists everywhere are saddened.

I guess I can assume the burglars weren’t white guys. Otherwise the AP would have stated that in the first paragraph.

No, more paperwork, BUT the good news is the offenders will not be repeating their criminal acts.

Gun policy in Arizona was once expressed by a new District Attorney, who had been elected during a public debate about the use of lethal force against burglars and robbers.
At his first press conference they asked him straight out, “What do you do if somebody breaks into your home?”
“You shoot the S.O.B.”, he replied, in an un-abbreviated manner. Which was pretty much public policy until he left office.

I remember a FReeper tagline; “I carry a gun because I can’t carry a cop”.
RIP, scumbags.

I was at the AZCDL annual meeting yesterday, and a friend told me that the student was 23 years old and had served in the Marines recently.
