Joe the Plumber said Thursday he doesn't have a license and doesn't need one. Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber, the nickname Republican John McCain bestowed on him during Wednesday's presidential debate, said he works for a small plumbing company that does residential work. Because he works for someone else, he doesn't need a license, he said.

Obama was just on Cavuto and he's slamming plumbers. That'll leave a mark....
... on Obama!
So he owes $1500 in back taxes and he is excoriated? Why are those who have defaulted on hundreds of thousands of dollars in mortgage debt, oftentimes through fraud on their own fault, the hero/victims of the democrats?
And liberals don't understand business. A small business that files a Sub S Corp could easily have “taxable income” of $250K. Oftentimes businessmen save their profits (this means you don't get to take them home you liberal idiots) to plow back into their businesses, and they pay taxes on these profits at the personal tax rates (pretty high at $250K). We red state idiots understand that. Liberals who make their money from the government, community activist groups, ivy league establishments, etc., don't understand this.
Can we now start talking about Michelle Obama’s past and dig up dirt on her, since she talks about McCain/Palin all the time?
Obama mocked him today at his rally.
I understand HVAC, plumbing, and electrician just fine.
These are not high concept jobs. They are “follow the print” types of jobs. The design of these projects, the materials and methods are specified in the engineering drawings for the specific job element. They need to know enough to know that the materials provided meet the specification and how to read the drawing to complete the task.
Yeah, he works under the current owner’s license. So what? All he has to do is take the state test when he buys it.
IF he buys it that is.
If Obama wins, I wouldn’t go into business for myself unless I was well under the tax radar somehow.
It’s OK, you can go on with that thought nicely tucked in your head. I was correct in my inital assesment.
Obama’s MSM makes Murder Inc. look like school crossing guards; I’m reminded of that long running series in Reader’s Digest a few decades back where they began with I Am Joe’s Heart and then went on with each of the other organs until finally, when the anatomy was drawn they had covered just about all that any coroner would ever need to determine that the subject of their examination was quite dead.
The difference here is that the MSM won’t quit at the point of the victim being drawn, next they must quarter him and then hang what’s left out to dry.
That’s only for new build out. How about troubleshooting involving electronics , gas venting, etc. There’s much more to the job than just following the prints.
“No, not jibberish, thats the way it is.
You claimed plumbers dont need to be licensed in california. Thats just not a factual statement. If you had said people working as plumbers for a licensed contractor dont need a license, id wholeheartedly agree, but they statement you made, as you phrased it, was wrong.
You must have some punch line that you are working toward, I wish that you would get to it.
I am a plumber and I was before I started my business, when the city of Chula Vista, or Joe’s plumbing hires plumbers, that is just what they advertise for and hire, they do not require the plumber to his own plumbing business license.
A business license is not required for a plumber that keeps his jobs under $500.00 dollars.
These are not high concept jobs. They are follow the print types of jobs.
That's not really true. I spent some time as an electrician, and held a license. Blindly following the print in new construction is guaranteed to result in major conflicts. All these trades make adjustments and "adlib" during the course of construction so that things fit together the way they should. I've seen prints that run ducts right through water mains, and run electrical cable tray right through ducts. And those are just the easy ones to adjust. Mis-drawn power substation relay schemes are also typical, and require all kinds of field-engineering from lowly electricians. I've worn out many a red and green pencil correcting engineering drawings.
My experience includes a great deal of troubleshooting as well, which requires a gread deal more analytical capacity than "following the print". I've also done plenty of residential work on additions, garages, basements, and such where there was no print. And, if you've ever rewired or replumbed an older house, you will be basically be working from a mental blueprint, utilizing some creative solutions to numerous obstacles. I'm sure that installing or upgrading HVAC in an existing structure requires quite a bit of thinking things through "on the fly".
Please don't discount the tradespeople. While they have their "grunts", there are many, many intelligent, thinking people that fill those shoes. And that's a good thing.
“Is Joe the first regular guy right off the street that managed to get in a question on Obama?”
It’s obvious that Joe is the first one ON CAMERA pointing out, to his face, that the emperor has no clothes. (Or, I guess, that the clothes he’s wearing are stolen from you and me.)
The media and half the nation now absolutely must destroy Joe, because they’ve been on record for the past two years describing how wonderful the emperor’s outfit is.
It’s been said time and time again, but needs repeated: Joe himself is just the deliverer of an important message. The uproar seems to be more about the unlicensed plumber rather than the naked emperor.
initial assessment is as poor as your spelling, you're not even close.
And almost no plumber can do that. Also, in many states, to legally advertise plumbing services, one must have a license to perform those services.
I find it humorous that you point to my spelling when you don’t even use full sentences. Also, it’s awfully sleazy to modify another persons quote and represent it as an actual quote. That’s a lame debate tactic.
Great post!
But a plumber he is, as are the many, many thousands of other plumbers in California, that do not have my C36 licenses.
I was a plumber before I started my business, I was a plumber while I took small jobs until my plumbing business license came through, and I am a plumber now, and on occasions, I hire plumbers, I even know retired plumbers that never started businesses.
California plumbers do not have to be licensed.
If I decide to drop my license and answer the city ad for “plumbers” I know that I can fulfill the requirements.
Huff Post Garbage...
Yep, straight out of the liberal holy book - Rules for Radicals
Barack Obama and Alinsky's Rules for Psychopaths
"Teaching hatred for the normal majority is the key to power for radicals. But Alinsky taught that you can't easily hate millions of people. To do that effectively you need a one-person scapegoat to focus all your hatred on. "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." That is the politics of personal destruction, and it doesn't matter if the target is black like Clarence Thomas, or a woman like Sarah Palin, or a severely wounded war veteran like John McCain..."
brilliant!
now I can’t get the tune out of my head
Sorry about your earworm-o-the-day, fnord. ;-)
If you spend a bit of time you’ll find that the contractor who owns the business is licensed. He holds the license under the name Alan W Newell. Subcontractors require separate licenses but I don’t think individual employees do since they are the responsibility of the licensed contractor. But I don’t work for the media......
