I've been following me own advice from today and posting on ABC News site. I've been doing this over the last couple of weeks. I've done it long enough to notice a pattern. My posts show up for about 1 minute and then are deleted by the moderator. In other cases they are deleted immediately. My posts are not vulgar or hateful, but conservative.
I also noticed tonight that other posts that were critical of George Stephanoplous were allowed to live for less than a minute before they were deleted.
So much for first amendment rights. These aren't for us little press people, but just for the Press. (Who defines what the Press is in this Web 2.0 age). Of course this isn't censorship in the literal sense, but it's censorship in the liberal sense. ABC is seriously in the tank for the O. They are big losers this election.
This has nothing to do with the First Amendment. This is a private propaganda medium maintaining control over its output.
abc is just looking out for their presidential candidate.
It’s their website so their judgement, it’s not censorship.
Doesn’t change the fact that they’re assholes though.
Posting on a ABC site is like writing on a outhouse wall. Someone comes in and throws lime on it.
Several of my posts at mybarackobama.com were “Deleted in the interest of free speech.”
I’m using the liberal/leftist use of the word censorship, not the rational, literal use. In that case they are censoring me and many other conseratives voices! It’s amazing to watch in real time as the rip out post after post that is critical of Obama or ABC’s coverage.
My advice to you is; walk away from them and leave them to fester. Spend your time and energy supporting conservative sites, or start your own site.
A bunch of us were so disgusted with the psycho liberals on the discussion board our local TV, so we started our own board. In one year we had well over 10,000 posts, and many members and the local TV station (nbc seattle) shut down it’s forum. YAY!!!
you’ll never get anywhere when the ghouls are in the mix, or in charge of the controls.
I don’t want you guys laughing at me and it is probably just my imagination, but sometimes I almost feel that the media has a, well, a sort of a bias or something.
I feel you pain. :-} I got kicked off the New York Times website over a decade ago and landed here. I must admit to posting at other sites though and inevitable my posts vanish into thin air in short order. It’s a marxist thing.
Sure it's censorship, just like "bleeping" on-air comments is censorship. Remember how Carson used to joke about the NBC censors? It's certainly true that they have a perfect right to censor their own web site, though.
>> So much for first amendment rights.
It’s their option to delete your comments, and it’s not a violation of your free speech. It may be unfair, however,
OK, I stand corrected. I should have used the first amendment rights rather than censor.
They are supposed to be objective, interested in only the truth getting to the reader. Journalism has a critical function in a republic.
Instead, they are a rotten, black cavity in America's mouth and they need to be utterly cleaned out.
It would be worth doing a little reporting by having people make similar comments, but with different names as taegets and then record the results.
It's not that they are supposed to be objective, but rather that they CLAIM to be objective, which is a lie.
yesterday my husband was posting a comment on the Des Moines Register website and his post was AUTOMATICALLY rejected because of a word that needed to be changed... and I’m serious about this, the word that was questionable/disallowed was “bags”... bags? “bags of cans” somehow sent up a red flag, literally.
what is wrong with US????
