In the old days, you usually voted for the President's judicial picks as long as they were qualified. It was not your job to pick the judiciary, but to make sure they were qualified.
The Democrats changed that tradition and turned it into an ideological fight to the detriment of the country.
McCain has tried to stick to the old tradition, but it is dead. At least he did point that out.
