CNN ^

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska's governor in the firing of her former public safety commissioner, but violated no laws, a report for the state Legislature concluded Friday.

Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Palin's ex-brother-in-law from the state police force was "likely a contributing factor" to Monegan's July dismissal, but Palin had the authority as governor to sack him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.

This reminds me of the Macacca moment. The stinking liberal MSM can take anything, anything and make it into an election turning issue. They just keep feeding it to the sheeple and they lap it up.

Look for Obama to move up higher in the polls because of this.

Alaska state senator Hollis French holds a press conference regarding his troopergate investigation:

"Bias? There are no "Bias" in this investigation you infidels!
And all your HumV are still belong to us!"

Staggering isn't it. But the real picture is SHE DID NOT FIRE the cop, her exbrotherinlaw.

She fired the Public Safety guy, an It was due to other things, not his failure to fire Wooten. She even offered him a different position that might suit him better, he declined.

So an otherwise decent woman who gets a violent man who is wreaking havoc with her family fired is found to have “abused her power”. And we wonder why we only have lying, incompetent hacks running for office.

The finding is invalid if she had ANY OTHER LEGITIMATE REASON to remove Monegan, which she did.

You're absolutely right. And he won't have to lift a finger, the media will do it all for him. Even Fox running with this.

The only silver lining is that it may finally convince McCain to stop pussyfooting around. He must realize he can't win now without something big in his favor.

“Yet, he declares she “abused her power”, which will the breathless headline all weekend. No wonder they wanted to shut this joke down.”

Get with the program, comrade. Anything a conservative does from the moment he wakes up until he falls asleep at night is an “abuse of power”./s;)

To: Chet 99; All
From the report (emphasis added):

Finding Number One

For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides

The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.

Finding Number Two

I find that, although Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

Finding Number Three

Harbor Adjustment Service of Anchorage, and its owner Ms. Murleen Wilkes, handled Trooper Michael Wooten's workers’ compensation claim property and in the normal course of business like any other claim processed by Harbor Adjustment Service and Ms. Wilkes. Further, Trooper Wooten received all the workers’ compensation benefits to which he was entitled.

Finding Number Four
The Attorney General's office has failed to substantially comply with my August 6, 2008 written request to Governor Sarah Palin for infomration about the case in the form of emails.

Everyone’s been waiting for the bottom line, so there it is! More to come soon.

It appears that Finding 2 invalidates Finding 1, no?

And don’t forget Travelgate where Hillary fired long time loyal employees of the WH travel office just so she could put her friends in those positions. She wasn’t satisfied just firing them. She destroyed their lives by accusing them of crimes it took a jury just a few minutes to find them not guilty for.

Not a good time for all this bs to be happening (albeit conveniently for f’ing Obama). I’m amazed that she is not holding a press conference and saying this is bs. What has gotten into our party where pussyfooting and political correctness trumps good old fashioned I’m gonna kick your butt politics. I’m stumped. Market drops, Obama’s poll numbers rise - can you say armegeddon?

Trying to fire a dangerous State Trooper and an insubordinate Commissioner is now an abuse of power. To me, it takes an oddball person to buy into this conclusion. Truly, we live in a strange country. And it gets stranger all the time.

Not because of this, but because of the P camp planting folks in McCain Rallies and McCain answering their “fear”. THAT was a dumb move.

She did not use her power to get him fired. He was never fired.
