Maher angrily denounces people of faith for being too certain and too judgmental. He then tells them that it is actually more “humble” to acknowledge doubts and belief in God and religion, like he does.

Humanist is not a synonym for secularist or atheist. St. Photius the Great was a humanist, Erasmus was a humanist, Alan Bloom was a humanist.

Bill Maher is an atheist jerk, not a humanist.

Contrary to what Maher says in Religulous, the Bible does indeed teach the doctrine of original sin, in Genesis 8:21, Psalm 5:9, 14:1-3 and 53:1-3, Isaiah 59:4-8, Romans 3:9-18 and 3:21-24, 1 John 1:8-10, and many other places. These and other passages show how Maher’s explanations and interpretations of what the Bible teaches cannot be trusted at all.

Maher is right about original sin. Isaiah 59:2 states that a man's sins and iniquities separate him from God, not Adam's sin. And Ezekiel 18 teaches that sin and righteousness and guilt are not inherited qualities. In short, it's a matter of what you choose to do, not what your condition at birth at a time when you have not yet transgressed God's law.
