McCain had an excellent opportunity to seize on this meltdown, and pin the blame squarely on the Democrats.

If he had of gone against the bailout, he could have put 0bama in a position as having “voted with Bush” on the most important issue of the moment.

He still has that opportunity on Tuesday. His problem is there is so much to say I don’t know if he can get it all out without facing the charge of boldly ignoring the questions - a big no-no at a town hall.

“pin the blame squarely on the Democrats”
This should be only part of the reform he has promised us, haven’t seen any of it during this financial crisis. He has also promised us prosperity, I would like for him to convince me that he knows how the fudge to do that. He has also promised us peace, I had much rather be promised security against our enemies (foreign and domestic) and know that he realizes that peace is gained through strength. By the way, a strong military has to be financed by a strong economy. I don’t need a reason to vote against Democrats, I need a reason to vote for Republicans.

Agreed. I think McCain’s vote will cost him (and us) the election.

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh—Yep, you’re right. McCain, like the rest of lemmings, went right off the cliff on this issue.

It will be interesting, now that the bail out card has been played by Washington Pols, to see what “plan B” is. About all the bail out bill did was provide a “get out of jail free” card to the Wall Street, lending community and politicians who brought us this brave new world. Oh, it did one other thing—it protected a dem voter segment. This is the segment of people who “bought” homes they knew they could not afford.

He would be up instead of slipping badly right now had he fought this disaster. It may well be what costs him the election.
