We are really desperate here in Bergen County, NJ to get Sarah Palin and Johm McCain to agree to a Rally at Liberty Park, In Jersey City, NJ. In light of Sarah's remarks today on the possible pullout from Michigan, and her stated desire to go there despite things not looking good, we think that if presented with the following letter she might see the advantage of possibly shaking up a few more votes and getting her message out to the people of NJ/NY/CT. They have to pull out all the stops now. . . We are sick of just laying down and dying when it comes to NY/NJ/CT. Can anyone pass this letter along to Lieberman? We can't reach him by e-mail not living in CT. Anyone have any connections with Guliani? How the heck can we reach Sarah herself? "Betcha" she would LOVE a national stage right across from Manhattan and right behind the Statue of Liberty. The last debate is in Long Island, NY on Oct 15. Perfect timing there. We have contacted our state legislators, as well as the McCain Campaign Hdqtrs both in DC and here in Woodbridge at the state level. They need to hear from many more of us.
We were wondering if any thought has been given to holding a rally at Liberty State Park, in Jersey City, NJ sometime in October? In light of the enormous crowds Sarah Palin has been generating (most recently last week in Florida), and on the heels of a fabulous debate performance on Thursday, we thought a perfect venue for a rally would be right on the Hudson at Liberty, opposite the site of the World Trade Center, with that beautiful Statue of Liberty as a backdrop! How awesome would it be for Sarah and John to speak to the people of NJ,NY & CT in such a fabulous setting? The gap is closing here in NJ for McCain; we need to begin to change New Jersey from blue to red - Hudson County would be the perfect place to begin. Hoboken, Jersey City, West New York, Union City, etc, have long been Democratic bastions, however, with the more recent influx of young professionals in the Hoboken, Jersey City area, now might be a good time to start building a base there. An appearance by Rudy Guliani, or, one of our fabulous NYC talk show hosts, Sean Hannity, would add to an awesome lineup, and serve to generate tremendous interest in the alternative to the Democratic stronghold there. With a Presidential debate scheduled for Hempstead NY on October 15, might it be possible for them to make a stop across the river within that time frame? I can assure you they would be welcomed with great enthusiasm by both NJ and NY voters!
Our small group, as well as many others throughout the state, would love to be able to mobilize one another towards a huge outpouring of support for a true American hero, John McCain, and his running mate Sarah Palin, as they campaign for reform and the conservative ideals of freedom and liberty. Liberty State Park, on the New York Harbor, less than 2000 feet from the Statue of Liberty, might be just the place to pick up much needed momentum. We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Respectfully, and not to put down your effort but If you really want to help the campaign don’t ask to waste Sarah’s time in unwinnable states. She’s better off in the real swing states where she has a real chance to turn votes that could win a state. If McCain wins THEN ask her to come to start building a base. First things first though.

I live in NYC, and unfortunately, NY state is lost, electorally. New Jersey, I don’t know about.
Speaking of Hudson County, where’s Bret Schundler these days?
Bre Schundler is a true Conservative.
Wish he’s run again.
Respectfully, an “unwinnable “state will remain an unwinnable state unless the campaign seizes the opportunity to change that by making a big splash. The location is literally at the crossroads of NY/NJ/CT. Easy to get thousands and thousands there, and put them on the national stage as well. Sorry, but giving up on the East is not an option now.JMHO.
Haven’t heard anything since his run. Maybe you know this, but. . .
“In 1992, even though only 6% of the electorate was registered Republican, conservative Republican Bret Schundler, a Harvard graduate who had worked on Wall Street, was elected mayor. Corporations were lured to the city in part by Schundler’s reforms and by his reputation for honesty.”
As I was saying we can’t just give up here with Palin/McCain.
I used to live in Bergen County...know your frustrations. There are many Republicans in the Franklin Lakes, Wyckoff, Wayne, Ridgewood areas...it’s just not worth it at this late stage. If they were up 10-12 points in the polls I would say go there and go for the slam. But others on this thread are right.
The focus MUST go to states like VA,PA, OH, FLA, CO, NM, NV, IA, NH, MN,ME.
We stand a FIGHTING chance there. Jersey has Lautenberg up 10% in his polls and he is like 348 years old. They have been blue forever now since Reagan and it’s not going to happen in 2008 for the GOP in Jersey. NY is a story where the island of Manhattan is the only thing that keeps NY blue. But to discount 8 million people as not part of the state would be insane. They should just make Manhattan its own state and the rest of NY its own state and then Republicans would stand a chance.
New York is the Big Sh*tty, writ large. Waste of time.
Joisey well on the way to Islamization. Words fail.
Connecticut is a Democrapic Partei ‘Stepford wife’.
I hope Michigan is winnable. Right now we need Oh, Va, Pa, Fla, Nc. They still have plenty of time to reach each state before election.
I would do Four or Five Rallys in each Battleground now and then hit them again right before the election one last time.
I guess you don’t understand how unpopular here in NJ our last 2 Democratic governors, McGreevy and Corzine have been.
Lieberman has great influence in CT and the tri-state area to bring home the Independents.
Guliani has been a national figure who could rally the NY base as well.
Writing us off is a mistake.
coming to NJ/NY would be a (b)HUGE(/b) mistake. would be a waste of valuable time and money.
i’m sorry to say but these states are gone forever. I was at rallys for Bush 41 and Bush 43 in NJ when they thought they had a chance. they were never even close.
How VERY wrong I was.
If I remember correctly, mayoral candidates do not identify their party affiliation in J.C. and in that particularly year there were maybe 14 (!) people running for mayor. Those two elements worked in Bret's favor. Sadly, he has been unable to make it to statewide office. New Jersey's loss.
Send him to visit every sportsman's club in those three states. Send him to all the snowmobile dealerships and clubs. Get him out there to skate with the Red Wings in practice.
Thank You.
I sure can agree with you about NY state, having lived here all my life. NY city has drained upstate of just about all of its money and resources. I’d love to see NYC became it’s own state and leave us alone. We’re actually pretty conservative or at least Republican in Central NY, except, of course for the college towns.
