Schwarzenegger to U.S.: State may need $7-billion loan

SACRAMENTO -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, alarmed by the ongoing national financial crisis, warned Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson on Thursday that the state might need an emergency loan of as much as $7 billion from the federal government within weeks.

The warning comes as California is close to running out of cash to fund day-to-day government operations and is unable to access routine short-term loans that it typically relies on to remain solvent.

I would hope that Schwarz had managed in all the time he’s been there to put California in play. Reagan did. Nixon did.

But Shwarz has played the radical leftie Rino, and because of that he has nothing to distinguish himself from the liberals with.

If he’d tried just a few conservative principles and his state were flying high, he’d be a high roller. But, he tried nothing conservative, the state looks just like it did when one liberal took over from another liberal, and his name will be remembered for nothing but Conan and muscles.

Scwarz blew a chance at history.

Cal-ee-fornia is a sanctuary state.

Have Arnie collect it from his undocumented citizens.

This was totally predictable. With the dems, bad behavior is always rewarded—particularly if it’s their friends who are involved.

Won’t be funny when they get it. It will start a stampede of poorly run states and then cities begging for money. Bush needs to put his foot down.

Ask Mexico to loan “it’s citizens of the world,” the money...

Maybe I should call my Democrat Congressman (Arcuri), and two Democrat Senators (Hillary & Schumky), and demand a bail out. I’m tired of giving, and never getting.

To Schwarzeneggar’s request, there ought be given either the short answer, or the long answer.

The short answer = “no”

The Long answer is = “hell no”

I am a 5th generation Californian, my family's been there since the Gold Rush. Over the past half-century, I've seen California become increasingly left wing and truly profligate in its spending. The Democrats, who have controlled the state legislature for decades, have spent and spent and spent. They just can't say no to pork barrel politics, the state and municipal employee and teachers unions. They can't say no to services for illegal aliens and tax breaks for them.

Thank God for the Initiative, Referendum and Recall (thank you REPUBLICAN Governor Hiram Johnson!) which provided some property tax relief with Proposition 13 in the late 1970s.

Tell California to cut spending until it's in line with revenues, and not to raise taxes!

But the idiots running government don’t get it. Never have never will, until it’s too late, and late is very close.

Why doesn’t government (any government at any level) have to live within it’s means? If the state of California has to cut its budget, then let the state of California cut its budget; fire some of the employees and cut the benefits for illegals.

Those rich CA actors shouldn’t mind.
After all, they agree that American’s don’t pay enough taxes.

Arnold should open his own personal vault and loan CA the money.
