Another hymn, by Martin Luther, holds a powerful message and is a support for me, especially now while I'm sitting at the computer, a quivering mass of jelly worrying about tonight. It's as topical today as when it was first written:
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing
Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe
His craft and power are great and armed with cruel hate
On earth is not his equal
Though this world with devils filled would threaten to undo us
WE WILL NOT FEAR, FOR GOD HATH WILLED HIS TRUTH TO TRIUMPH THOUGH US
The prince of darkness grim....we tremble not for him
His rage we can endure, for lo! his doom is near
One little word can fell him
A mighty fortress is our God! Prayers lifted for Governor Sarah Palin's success tonight.......
