WASHINGTON - After one spectacular failure, the $700 billion financial industry bailout found a second life Wednesday, winning lopsided passage in the Senate and gaining ground in the House, where Republicans opposition softened.
Senators loaded the economic rescue bill with tax breaks and other sweeteners before passing it by a wide margin, 74-25, a month before the presidential and congressional elections.
In the House, leaders were working feverishly to convert enough opponents of the bill to push it through by Friday, just days after lawmakers there stunningly rejected an earlier version and sent markets plunging around the globe.

They see a cash cow and latch on their pet projects to an EMERGENCY bill!! Now who’s playing politics with this!!
While I think mental health should be covered, how can the government force insurance companies to provide coverage? What kind of country are we living in?
I know a lot of people didn’t like the original bill. But the more they work on this bill the worse it is going to get. Now they are adding huge programs because, compared to $700 billion, it’s nothing.
Buncha jerks. There’s money to be had, and We The People are just a nuisance to be knocked out of the way...
The government hasn’t worked for Regular Joe American for a long time.

Wooden arrows??
Do you honestly think this spin is going to stick?
I'm getting sick of saying this: THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS!!!!
Why should I continue to grant support to someone who just lied to me?
> Wow, apparently, I am getting better service from my Dem Senator than my GOP Senator here in Florida. Somehow, I am close to Bernie Sanders than my own Presidential candidate.
I am not sure. Just seeing Feingold and Sanders being opposed to the bill makes me believe that it can not be all bad.
“While I think mental health should be covered, how can the government force insurance companies to provide coverage? What kind of country are we living in?”
Quite frankly, pretty much a socialist one.
The House will pass it this time. I believe that the only reason it didn’t pass the first time is that Pelosi didn’t want people to believe that McCaines presents in Washington would help get it passed, knowing that the Bill would come back to the House after the Senate approved it.
A list of “mavericks”
Here is the email I sent one of my senators (who is up for election next month):
“Senator, we need to talk. You don’t seem to understand who you work for.
This morning I sent you an email explicitly telling you NOT to vote for the bailout. You ignored my instructions and voted for that pig.
Don’t be too surprised when I ignore your plea for my vote next month.
As you know, Senator, one hand washes the other.
Yours are dirty. Enjoy your unemployment.”
DO NOT VOTE FOR A SINGLE INCUMBENT NEXT MONTH!!!
Me too; didn’t vote for Casey or Specter, but shamed nonetheless....

Has the bill been posted anywhere yet so we can read the pork associated with the “Rescue” plan? It would be interesting to see if there is any language in there that actually is directed toward the financial bailout, or if they had to take that out to make room for their own wants and desires.
Why? Explain PLEASE.
This was not an ordinary HB. This was a call out of the Democrat Party...and their lobbyist friends, along with insiders, Soros and Franklin Raines, Alinsky and many ofther foreign millionares. They sold out America.... and we were the hostages....the bill is the ransom! do you pay or let the American people pay WITH A GREAT DEPRESSION.
Well John paid.....and he will still lose.
COUNTRY FIRST! YOU JUST DONT SEE IT. PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER!
What an interesting description...
