Video: Palin on Supreme Court decisions she disagrees with

A bad answer not because it’s so awkward but because she lacks the knack for spinning tough questions to her advantage in a way politicians ought to be able to. E.g., “Any decision is a bad decision, Katie, where the Court arrogates to itself the right to decide difficult questions which, in a democracy, should be left to the public.” An answer like that would have gone a long way towards countering Biden’s dopey point about the virtue of Roe v. Wade lying in its expression of consensus. Hey, Joe? Consensus is best determined at the ballot box. If Biden disagrees with that, I encourage him to let the Supreme Court decide who should be the next president. It sounds from WaPo at this point like Palin’s going to try to bait Biden into a fatal gaffe tomorrow night to cover any missteps she might commit. Not a bad idea in light of the new CBS poll: “Women’s perception of Palin has become increasingly negative. On Sept. 8th, Palin had a 47 percent favorable rating among women and a 19 percent unfavorable; now her favorable rating among the group is down to 30 percent, while her unfavorable has risen to 34 percent.” Exit question: She’s on record as opposing the Supreme Court’s ruling on punitive damages in the Exxon Valdez case. Why didn’t she just mention that? Update: Karl e-mails, “Biden’s a senior member of the Judiciary Committee. Try asking him about the Alaskan pipeline and see how he does.”

That wasn’t the best answer to be sure. That interview has done her nothing but harm. Hopefully tomorrow she can undo that damage.

I saw it. It was embarrassing. This makes her performance tomorrow night a make or break situation in my opinion. If she can’t pull it off tomorrow, if she can’t come up with answers that are coherent and on point then it is over for her.

That said I have to say that from what I have read recently the McCain campaign had assigned people from the Bush administration to coach her and prep her for these things. How anyone could think that people from the Bush administration are comepetent to handle the media or communicate effectively is beyond me. The Bush administration has demonstrated over and over for the past 7+ years that communication and media management are about as familiar to them as the dark side of the moon. To entrust Governor Palin’s media prep to such people borders on malicious intent - they couldn’t have done more to torpedo her if they had tried.

This sucks. They still have a month to desroy her completely. McClame is looking more and more like Dole. I don’t know. If she gets preped to the McClame reach across the aisle bi-partisan baloney. She will look stupid at the debate. I would say let her go. Nothin to lose at this point. Good luck Sarah. I think I will get my absentee ballot vote for McClame forget all this BS and go fishin.

So is CBS going to release a segment of this video every day until election or what?

The only positive to that clip is that it reveals Katie’s syndrome.. DUOP...
She’s a dried up old prune.
Katie’s envious of Sarah’s appeal, Sarah’s youth and her better “looks”.
Katie Couric is a vapid, empty pantsuit who is losing control over her perky appeal

Sarah may be a newbie, but she oozes sincerity, honesty and down home goodness.

All the the things that aging feminists HATE!

I’m afraid her performance tomorrow will determine whether McCain has any chance at all in this election. She needs to shine, and shine in a big way.

The idiots at the McCain campaign fell into the trap that she needed to sit down with MS Media..even though it was clear they wanted to destroy her. She clearly wasnt ready to sit down with them. It would never have hurt her NOT to sit down with them.

These people wont let her on Rush or Laura but will send her to the 3rd place nightly anchor to get her tripped up and her reputation ruined.

I fear the only thing that can save us is if the Dems get the Presidency and destroy the country the enxt 4 years. Its very clear the people running the show in the Republican Party right now are just not very bright.

Couric asked some pretty interesting questions, and the truth is Sarah wasn’t very adept at answering them.

Sarah, welcome to the NFL!

It doesn't matter one bit how well she does in the debate. Just like GW Bush, she has been branded an idiot (by the MSM) and nothing will change that. Not even a Perfect Game.

I agree completely.

The second I heard people from the Bush adminsitration were preparing her to deal with the media I knew it was over for her. The Bush administration is the most media inept enterprise in American history and they brought people in from it to coach her? Just ridiculous.

Why is there no focus on Biden’s answer? He was also only able to come up with one decision he did not agree with! And Biden chairs the Judiciary Committee!

There is no focus on Biden’s answer because the media wants his ticket to win.

If McCain doesn't understand how the Leftist Media is in the tank for Obama, how can we possibly expect them to tell the historic truth about Obama's neo-Marxism (and naturally, his corruption)?

That is what will would win the election for McCain.

These people seem to have been living sheltered lives, commuting inside the beltway and being in touch with "the right people."

Where is this confidenc in her miraculous abilities coming from?

If she was “that” amazing, would she be shielded like she has been?

Best thing going for her is the FORMAT.

Two minutes, and then thirty second rebuttal. There won’t be FOLLOW UP questions, which have been her demise so far.

She can fill that space up, launch some attacks and then kill another 30 seconds.

Biden is going to be injected with RHINO tranquilizers before they allow him to step on the stage.

His plan would obviously be to extent Sarah some rope and so far she has not turned down the offer once.

She needs to be told to NOT answer any question or request for explanation coming from Biden.

On TECHNICAL questions, where actual understanding of issues is needed, she better not fill up that space with some non-answer.

Also this “Combative Conservative” thing we are hearing about, according to Pollsters, reason Obama picked up few percentage points is because of MODERATES getting behind him. According to pundits, Obama agreeing with McCain was his biggest mitakes. According to voters, that’s one thing they liked.

If Sarah sounds too confrontational without much depth, women would abandon her in droves.

Idiots are running McCain’s campaign.

McCain has now slipped badly in Pennsylvania where he once had a chance. People are scared about the economy. Imagine how much stronger McCain would be if Romney were his V.P. candidate. Romney knows more about the economy, business growth, taxes, etc. than Obama, Biden, and McCain put together. He could debate Biden with ease and attack Obama at the same time. He proved over and over during the primary debates that he’s a terrific debater. Sure, he’s a rather boring choice, but at least he sounds competent. Palin, on the other hand, makes Dan Quayle look like a genius. McCain is losing this election and his Palin selection stunt is putting the nail in his coffin. It was a smart decision for all of two weeks. Now, it just looks like McCain threw the Hail Mary pass and nobody was in the end zone to catch it. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Not sure where you got your information. What I read is it will be the EXACT SAME FORMAT as the first McCain vs Obama debate except there will be a 2 minute rebuttal period instead of 5 minutes.

This format also means more questions will be asked.

oh, please boring? Romney is not boring, except to the liberal hags on the view.......but he would have further fractioned off conservative voters........McCain already has that hanging on his neck.
