I’m with you. There are certainly ways to make Ms. Parker aware of one’s disagreement with her commentary without having to sink to the level of the Daily Kos or Democratic Underground.

Remember how mad we all were at the comments made after the announcement of Tony Snow’s cancer, then again after his death.

I can’t say I have agreed with Ms. Parker or Peggy Noonan or Tammy Bruce very often but the fact that they have expressed views on occasion in accordance with some of the ideals of conservatism such as small government and individual freedom and reponsibility pleased me a lot more than reading the rantings of Medea Benjamin, Katrina vanden Heuval (The Nation magazine) and Madeline Talbott (head of ACORN).

Some of my usual readers feel betrayed because I previously have written favorably of Palin.

No Kathleen, you've never written favorably about Governor Palin. You're a long time Romney supporter and you've been beating the drum for McCain to dump the governor in favor of Mitt from the very start. So don't play "shocked" when you hear from us about what we think of your backstabbing.

No one is claiming she should be silenced by government intervention. They are saying they won’t read her column and think she is an idiot. That is also free speech!

I’m guessing she gets death threats just like liberal blacks get nooses - only in their minds.

I emailed Helen Thomas once years ago with a critique of one of her columns and got a one sentence “nasty-gram” in return. Wish I still had it.

Kathleen Parker is right. Sarah Palin has allowed herself to be corrupted by the Bush handlers and she apparently has cut herself off from news sources, relying heavily on White house “briefs”. (Limit the data in... Limit the data out)

The result? She comes off as a simpleton with a flawed memory on the “talking points”.

God willing, Sarah will be herself in the debates and abandon the positions she has been force-fed by the Bush handlers.

It was a shame to see how quickly the Republican idiots undid her after her initial introduction.

On an aside- I will change the channel the first time she says “John McCain deserves our support” or some other kissup comment. *barf*

What kind of e-mail did she get from the left while she was in Palin’s corner? Any better or worse than when she changed her mind?

“The picture is this: Anyone who dares express an opinion that runs counter to the party line will be silenced. That doesn’t sound American to me, but Stalin would approve. Readers have every right to reject my opinion. But when we decide that a person is a traitor and should die for having an opinion different than one’s own, then we cross into territory that puts all freedoms at risk.”

Sorry Kathleen. When Obama does this to you then ping me. Until then take the criticism like a man.

Who says public discourse hasn't deteriorated?

ROTFL...Parker hasn't noticed the "public discourse" that she joined that has been savaging Palin for weeks? What a dim bulb.

I've always considered Parker a lightweight. Her columns read like conservative boiler plate -- nothing deep or uniquely insightful. I've found drive-by FReeper comments more insightful (and certainly more amusing) than anything Parker has ever written. The best indicator of my admiration for a writer is how often I've forwarded one of their columns to a friend. I've never forwarded anything written by Parker.

Compared to the literary eloquence of a Peggy Noonan or the Mencken-esque wit of an Ann Coulter, Kathleen Parker is just stale. Her Palin column, which I disagreed with, was probably the most interesting thing she's ever written simply because of the response it generated. She should now sink back into her blah, blah, blah boiler plate.

Annenberg. Ah yes, I remember it well. Ayers and Obama, slowly I turned, step by step, inch by inch...

My opinion is that most of the freepers are getting too far down in the weeds on this Parker-Palin thing. Keep it simple - follow the money. Parker is taking a flier that McCain/Palin will lose and she is trying to stake out her claim on one of the lucrative MSM “house” conservative slots. George Will and Peggy (reaganwasmysockpuppet) Noonan have a lock on two of those slots. Krauthammer is making a strong bid for a seat at that table. Parker has some pretty strong competition for the few slots available and, therefore, needs this kind of stimulus-response to get her house republican creds in order.

Fact: Obama attends Trinity United Church of Christ, which declares itself "Unashamedly black and Unapologetically Christian." The church's magazine recently gave a lifetime achievement award to that beacon of racial harmony, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

Nevertheless, though Annenberg's researchers indeed found evidence that Obama's church indeed is pro-black, they said, "Calling it 'racist' is, in our judgment, a falsehood.''

Nothing racist about those cats. Believe Ayers-Obama, not your own lying ears.

Kathleen Parker is like a lot of the people raised all their lives in the lower 48.
These folks just have a hard time understanding that a person raised in a place like Alaska could have any kind of real book learning or be so positive about life.
It was my observation when living in Alaska for five years, that folks like the Heaths (Sara's Mom and Dad) provided a lot of home schooling along with the local schools.
There's not much to do during those long Winter nights except read, play games and interact with family.
Sara like most girls and boys, are raised to be strong and self reliant and to depend on themselves to make their way in the world.
I would expect Sara to be a little rough around the edges when it comes to being elite and smug, folks up in Alaska just do not cotton to other folks who are racist and elitist like many folks such as Obama and friends found in Ivy League schools.
It did not take me long living in Alaska to realize that when your life is in danger a mans skin color, the clothes he wears, his sexual preference or God forbid the elite school he attended was about the last thing of importance that came to mind.
Sort of like, it is hard to think about draining the swamp when you are up to your ass in Alligators.
I may be wrong but Sara may just shock a few of those smug liberals come tomorrow night, in fact I would bet hard earned cash that Sara holds her own with that bloviating elitist Biden.
