Why didn’t the Administration, Bush and Paulson, act when they had the authority? Why the chicken little?

Is this the so-called October surprise to elect Obama and keep the House/Senate in Dem Control?

Why did Bush pick Paulson from Goldman Sachs who was endorsed by Schumer for Treasurer? Why didn’t he say someting when Paulson hired two Obama supporters as he two top assistants?

Why did Bush back Paulson/Obama/Dems at the meeting which he agreed to ONLY have Sen McCain called him. Why did Paulson give the House GOP plan they gave him to Obama and then Obama took over the meeting like the President and started saying it was his plan and that is when Minority Leader Boehner became unglued?

Why has Bush ONLY listened to Paulson and the Dems? <>WHY? WHY? WHY?

IMO this was the ‘October’ surprise to get Obama elected and the Dems to keep the House and Senate. Spoke volumes that there was no whipping by the House Dem Whip to get people to vote for this. I believe it was a set-up pure and simple and I also am not sure that Bush wants McCain to win. In fact, if I was betting on that right now I would bet against it. Bush’s actions with the Dems speak volumes.

PKM, I hesitated on repeating the entire text of your post, but I decided it was necessary in order to re-emphasize the fundamental blindness, shallow partisan myopia and deep-seated denial pervading this board in the discussions of these this issues and how they relate to this election.

Your comments and your questions are dead-on, but because the honest and truthful answers to them are so frightening and so threatening to the comfortable, conventional views of reality being desperately clung to by most respondents here, they simply cannot face those truths and must retreat to their comfort zones of viewing these events through the deceptive paradigms of conventional party politics.

The reality is that this election isn't really about whether the Democrats "win" or the Republicans "win". It's about whether the moment has arrived where our self-annointed elites, including both parties, can successfully manipulate this electoral process and the American voters to ram home and finally consolidate their absolute control over the wealth and power of this country and its people.

As I have written elsewhere, these elites obviously prefer an Obama victory because he'll enact their agendas more quickly, but they would also have been perfectly happy with a Hillary or a McCain presidency, because they'd have both followed the same course, just a little more slowly.

The problem which has developed with McCain, however, is his maverick choice of Palin as his VP candidate. Has he chosen Lieberman, Romney, Huckabee or any of the others that would have been just fine, but Palin represents a real threat to their agenda should she succeed McCain. They perceive, correctly, that she has the potential to disrupt their agendas in exactly the same manner as a Reagan or Thatcher. Thus, the elites have determined that McCain/Palin must now be defeated, not because of McCain, since he's one of them, but because of Palin and the future threat she represents.

Finally, I noted with sadness the anguish in your post concerning what you believe to be the mysterious behavior of President Bush throughout all these matters. I don't believe you and I have ever corresponded, but I have been here over ten years and am fully aware of the great personal effort and tremendous sacrifices you have made for the Republican party in Oklahoma, and President Bush in particular.

I understand the profound feelings of betrayal you are experiencing, and wish I could offer some comfort. Unfortunately, the hard truth is that it's not really a question of Bush not wanting McCain to win because of their admittedly very real personal animosities. The brutal reality is that they're both wholly-owned assets of the real "powers that be", as are Obama and Biden. Palin is the only wild card that worries them.

They're all interchangeable and expendable pieces on an elaborate chessboard of political theater, and are simply playing out their roles. The 2008 election itself is merely another component of this political kabuki dance, and is essentially being used as a distraction to keep the people preoccupied while our elites consolidate their agendas.

Whether President Bush is a willing, enthusiastic partner in this treasonous betrayal of his country, or whether he's acting under duress and some horrible compulsion is an open question, but it's been obvious for quite some time that he's no longer in control of his administration or his Presidency.

I prefer to believe that he's acting unwillingly, and when I see him speak publicly these days I believe I see in his eyes the same anguish I hear in your posts. Either way, it is beyond obvious that the fix is in, the powers that be are making their move for the final dismemberment and dissolution of our Constitutional Republic, and President Bush is powerless to oppose it, even if he wanted to.
