Morris: "McCain is losing the election this minute"
Fox News | 9/30/08

Posted on 09/30/2008 1:33:52 PM PDT by pabianice

Dick Morris on Fox: McCain is bungling the bail-out issue so badly that he has basically lost the election by "a lot; will be 12 points behind Obama next week." McCain "is giving this issue away to Obama" by being ineffective and not pinning it rightfully on Pelosi, ACORN, and the Dems.

Pro-Obama ads are running 3-1 vs. McCain ads. Obama videos/Yoytube are running ten to one against McCain. I can't understand how a brave warrior like McCain can be so blind and go down with no fight. HOW can McCain let the ACORN issue just slide away?

McCain gained because the bailout failed, which offered McCain a lifeline.
The question is will he take it, or will he hang himself with it by continuing to push this $700 billion Bush-Pelosi crony capitalist boondoggle?

I have done all that. I’m in the fight. I have also contributed to the McCain campaign (though I’ve redirected my contributions to the NRA for now).

I am doing what you say about emails and videos. I want to win.

I am NOT anti-McCain. I WANT a President McCain.

He wasn’t my first choice but so what, I want him now.

But he has to want it too, dammit. And right now he’s not acting like he wants it.

He’s acting like he wants the approval of his lib friends more than he does the votes and heart-felt efforts of all of us.

And by the way, you’re wrong about the media. It still trumps the internet and McCain can take the battle there and win, if he ever decides to actually FIGHT.

It's very disheartening. Especially since he will drag Palin down with him.

Small problem with your theory: McCain rebounded in the last couple of days, in Gallup, Rasmussen, and Battleground. He has increased his lead in AZ; still has a lead in OH; and still has a lead in FL.

Recent polls show him leading in VA. So the evidence doesn't support Morris. These comments would have been right four or five days ago, but not now.

The problem is, McCain seems too stupid to ally with 80% of the American people on this and then to attack the Dems by name. And the funny thing is that Obama is running against the most inept candidate since Dukakis and still may lose.

The American people have the attention span of the last Seinfeld Rerun. Sure McCain needs to fight, but Political history has always proved that the best time to go negative and release dirt is the last 10 days of the Election.

Very true

I share you hope but fear otherwise. we shall see. I don’t know whether I can bear to watch it live, or tape it and watch the winchester Bros. kill demons.

No , I just think many here are frustrated because McCain is not going nuclear on the Democrats.

He cannot go negative before the VP debate, he wants Sarah to do her thing, once that is over he can release her around the Country.

But the point is, Texas, McCain won’t GET 5 points ahead without fighting for it.

It’s not going to be handed to him.

It’s not going to be doled out to him in consideration of his Bipartisanship.

He has to want it. He has to fight for it. He has to win it.

And as of this moment, he is not doing that. He is AWOL in the most important fight of his — and unfortunately all of ours — life.

Sure McCain needs to fight, but Political history has always proved that the best time to go negative and release dirt is the last 10 days of the Election.

The fact that left wing liberal egalitarian policies contributed to getting us into this housing mess is not exactly a secret worth keeping till election night eve.

I must be more passionate about politics than I am about sports now (God help me) because I did something that I have never done watching a football game....I got pissed off in the first 20 minutes of the debate, turned off the TV, had a glass of wine, ate and then went to sleep. 5 more minutes and I would have thrown a beer bottle at the screen.

I was so angry that McCentrist didn't hammer home ACORN, CRA, Clinton, FNMA contributions to Obama.

Wasted, wasted opportunity. How often do you have every voter in the country tuned in and ready to hear what you have to say directly without the media filter??? He had the bully pulpit. He could have even said in a bipartisan fashion that "Yes, there was greed on Wall Street + social engineering by Obama/Alinsky style community organizers and there is plenty of blame to go around, but there is time for that later."

I still think their is time. There is no way that a man who could withstand dozens of beatings from the VietCong would be afraid of accidentally pissing anyone off with the truth.

Forgotten, but not for long.

I would bet a mortgage payment that Ayers, Wright, Acorn, Raines etc.. will be unleashed to the public within the next 10 days.

My gut is that Michelle Obama is next..... at Farrakhan’s Church.

THAT is the response that we should all give these nervous nilly ship jumpers.

Now, I may not agree with the way McCain fights, or arguably his failure to fight, but I do love my country enough to vote for him regardless of what he says or does at this point.

McCain could eat babies for breakfast at this point and I still wouldn’t turn against him....

My God, if Obama and his filthy cohorts take over our country, we will crumble.

Obama is not an option under any circumstances!

He's going to muzzle Palin and make her a bipartisan clone.

Are you kidding? You've obviously been ignoring her background. If he wanted a female bipartisan, he would have put Rice on the ticket.

This is like watching a damn funeral with a circular firing squad.

The MSM has been feeding the country Goebbel’s propaganda for weeks and the democrat socialists on wall street are trying to stampede you into accepting fascism. And looks like half the people on FR are falling for it.

Morris is always wrong. 80% of Americans oppose the bailout. And we get the chicken little parade here on FR.

Go brew a cup of coffee, get drunk or volunteer for McCain’s campaign.

There is no question that at least some trolls are among us.

I smoked out 3 myself, yesterday.

If you were with the other guys and you saw as many people on this board freaking wouldn’t you get busy and throw gasoline on the fire?

Good points. But how effective is it to release your best ammunition a month before the election, knowing that America has a short Attention span.

Why did the Bush DUI get released the Sunday before the 2000 vote? Why not October 1, 2000 when Gore was down 10 in Gallup.

Did Gore panic, no . His advisers were smart. They knew Joe Six pack would remember the DUI in the voting booth .

"Strategy, I don't need no stinking strategy." That being said, our team needs to come out swinging. We are tired of the MSM ripping McCain, Palin. Get mad, put these leftist in there place. Our base needs to get fired up again. Palin needs to answer a question, and then say “I repeat my answer so that you understand what I say and that I can not get misquoted”. The base will go crazy, the general public will see how “mean” the MSM is and will begin to cheer for her.

No question that team McCain must define the debate, they have not. WE all got fired up with Palin, the media has tried to make her irrelevant... don't send her out to do battle with MSM, they are not the objective, beating Obama is the objective. If they do not attack and attack quickly they will remain on the defensive and defense seldom wins the game.

Maybe he does. I have known a lot of people in my life who work real hard to get something and then once they get it they don’t care anymore. McCain wanted the nomination in 2000 and lost. He tried again this year and won the nomination. To him that is victory. He beat all the conservatives in his party, he beat the establishment candidate if there was one and beat the Rush Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world who were arrayed against him. What more could he ask for. He doesn’t care anymore he has his revenge. He is old and tired and lost. He doesn’t understand why his “friends” in the media, his “friends” in the Senate and his independent base are all supporting his opponent. He has no message to run on other than earmarks and Iraq, he can’t run as a change agent because he has been in DC for 25 years, he comes across to ordinary people as grumpy, petty and insincere, he doesn’t understand the economy so he can’t speak to it and he can’t offer free market solutions because he doesn’t understand a market he has never been part of. Since the day he was born he has been a ward of the state, first through the defense dept., and since 1983 the legislative branch has paid his bills. He is government, and all his ideas center around the government doing something because that is all he knows.

He was never a true maverick he was a media ordained maverick and he was only a maverick when he was fighting against W and the Pubbies. He was the poster boy for the media’s bi-partisan message, a Republican working with Democrats against other Republicans to advance the liberal agenda. Juan never got it, he was used by people who didn’t like him. They played him and now we are stuck with him. I have said since May, check the archives, that this was going to be a landslide year for OBama and the Dems and regretfully I am holding to my prediction.
