Morris: "McCain is losing the election this minute"
Fox News | 9/30/08

Posted on 09/30/2008 1:33:52 PM PDT by pabianice

Dick Morris on Fox: McCain is bungling the bail-out issue so badly that he has basically lost the election by "a lot; will be 12 points behind Obama next week." McCain "is giving this issue away to Obama" by being ineffective and not pinning it rightfully on Pelosi, ACORN, and the Dems.

Pro-Obama ads are running 3-1 vs. McCain ads. Obama videos/Yoytube are running ten to one against McCain. I can't understand how a brave warrior like McCain can be so blind and go down with no fight. HOW can McCain let the ACORN issue just slide away?

Judging from the reaction on this thread, Morris struck a nerve. :)

If FReepers are raging, then McCain is getting deluged with the same advice. I hope he takes some of it to heart.

He's going to muzzle Palin and make her a bipartisan clone.

McCain's attitude, since suspending his campaign, is the reason I would have voted for Hillary, had she been the nominee!

McCain is dead in the water, he is doing NOTHING & doesn't seem to care.

If I were Palin, I'd run back to Alaska & save my governership at least!

Bush tried to reach across the aisle too & look where it got him. He has the lowest ratings of any president in his second term!

There were many of us (true conservatives here) who despised McCain til he brought Palin onboard, but he has let her down too. What the HECK is he thinking????

If everything proclaimed came to be, there would be no doubt and no surprises. Morris is no more accurate than Miss Cleo.

I think McCain and his handlers will do what they can to make Palin ineffective.

Well, McCain just wants to be bipartisan. He thinks that Pelosi is being mistreated, and he wants to be bipartisan and do everything he can to help her.
Sad, sad, pathetic and sad.

But true.

Why did Bush just lay down and let Pelosi Galore run all over him with her hate speech yesterday? Why didn’t Bush address the reasons for this mess when he addressed the country this morning.
Because Bush is like a kid two weeks before summer vacation.
He's just counting down the days until he can get the hell out of Washington DC for good.

And Republicans are all acting out of fear. They are too stupid to realize that cowardice and a defensive crouch only compounds their problems. And Republicans are without leadership. They have a lot of 'go along to get along' leaders like Boner and McConnell in Congress.

McCain looked like he was going to come out and take a strong stance, everyone say he had a real perfect opportunity to split with Bush on the unpopular Bailout proposal. His support started to rally as he came back to a tie with 0bama. But then he didn't take advantage and he did everything exactly wrong and now the bottom has fallen out.
He's probably blown the election for good in the past week.

He is totally committed to the delusional world of phony senatorial collegiality.
And never has a better prescription been written for "how to lose a presidential election".

Overall the ‘toe sucker’ hasn’t proven himself to be very accurate with his predictions. In fact as best I can tell he flops from one side to the other quite frequently.

while I totally agree with you, I do think the wind has shifted big time in this. Look, the only way McCain was going to win this thing, was to fight the left and fight the Mainstream Media.. He has occassionly fought both, but not near hard enough. He often gets in bed with the left and also the MSM by inviting them into the Straight Talk express, etc.

this is a culture war and McCain still doesn’t get it. He keeps forgetting that he is a soldier and puts his senate politician hat on. He needs to suit up and get that uniform back on , and fight the enemy within.

He has allowed MSM to mock Palin with abandon. Why? She is not Quayle, but they have made her that.. I guess we will see how she does in the debate Thursday night. But again, they will spin that as well, and the big Fair and Balanced Fox News team (our only hope) will call it a tie..

we have no warriers on our side except Rush..

I have gone back and forth on this bail out thing, personally, but I do agree that McCain has blown a huge opportunity.

Unless he fights and fights hard, right now this minute... this thing is over. finis.

To: Question Liberal Authority
McCain's position on the bailout is incomprehensible. It only makes sense if you're fixated on "bipartisanship" above all else.
It's a disease. Like liberalism itself. A form of brain cancer. And even a great hero like McCain, once smitten with it, is turned into a drooling fool.

This is one of the few times I believe Morris is correct.

He suspended his campaign (good start)
He unsuspended his campaign (New bill McCain crowed about his success)
New bill Failed

McCain has offered nothing since. Except he supported the better bill.

“They need to attack, relentlessly. Obama and the Democrats are a target rich environment, but right now McCain and his campaign are not taking advantage of it. Schmidt and McCain need to go nuclear, and soon”.

...I believe McCain thinks that he’s got us conservatives no matter what because he’s the anti-BO. This particular stance may be to attract fence sitters that don’t know jack sh$$. The nuclear option is still on the table and yes, should be exercised asap! Sooner!

Conservatives who claim that they’d “never vote for McCain” for whatever reason are fooling themselves. Once in the booth we’ve got a heavy decision to make. Four years of BO would equal 20 years of no return. Liberal judges, redefining the electoral college would make it virtually impossible to get it back to any normalcy.

Staying home on election day is not the MO for most conservatives.
