Too Much Information

Posted on 09/29/2008 6:55:26 PM PDT by louie2

Yesterday I had two Obama campaigners come to the door asking for one of my sons by name. Considering the facts that my wife and I moved to North Carolina four years ago and the son, who was 18 at that time, remained in the state of our previous residence as a college student, has never resided in North Carolina, and is no longer declared as a dependant, how in he** do they even know his name? Is this an invasion of privacy issue? Commentary would be appreciated.

This is not an “invasion of privacy issue”, and dependent has no “a”. Next

I hate it even more when some stranger on the telephone asks me what my first name is so they can call me by that name. Of course I won’t give them that information and I always ask them why they would want to call me by my first name. Stops them cold.

Tell a caller someone has died can cause that person problems if you tell the wrong people. I heard of credit cards being canceled by some companies be because of this.

Used to live in a town that went 85% for Kerry in 2004, and even more for Gore in 2000. I turned up democrat one day in 2006. Got no explanation from the voter registration office on how that happened but supposedly got it straightened out.

I have since moved and am debating whether or not to contact the voter registration in my old town to make sure my registration is canceled and not used by someone else, or if that will just be a tip off that it CAN be used by someone else and I might be better off not notifying them. Maybe I’m just paranoid...

When they come knocking for Barry here I already have my scripted answer ready for them;
“Oh you mean the Muslim dude?”

I had a friend who listed his phone number as his cat’s name. It sounded like a girl’s name so when telemarketers called ans asked for her, He would say, “I can get her but she won’t be much help. I don’t give her any money.” He would then take the phone to where the cat was sleeping adn lay the phone next to her. He would say things like “I can’t get her she is sleeping under the sofa” or “She’s out chasing mice”

After she died, he would say things like “I can’t get her, she’s dead. I have her buried in the back yard. She choked on a mouse last year.”

If it’s ACORM, it doesn’t make a difference if you say the person is dead - many dead are still voting!

I believe there is a web site you can access to confirm voter registration. I don’t remember the web address but you can probably google it.

I used the "he died" one time when someone I didn't know called me cold, asking for my first name. Then my daughter's orthodontist started asking for cash upfront, highly unusual. I think the person who called was from their office. She probably thought I was trying to avoid paying, and was taking no chances. It was not professional for her not to identify herself, but that happens.

Since I live in a small town, I promised myself never to use that one again even though I have little sympathy for telemarketers.

Look up your son on Zabasearch.com. You will see for-profit offers to assist you in obtaining all kinds of information with an example displaying possible relationships to other people. Granted you get a slew of name possibilities to choose from, but it’s scary how mere knowledge of a birthdate can narrow that stuff down. If he’s ever filled out a form ‘to be kept on file’ somewhere, there ya go.

He’s never lived at your current address. OK, but who served as his reference or nearest living relative when he enlisted the services of a utility, enrolled in a school, or rented an apartment? Incestuous relationship between the original data collectors, credit agencies and database miners.
