They’ve effectively killed all the momentum Palin brought back to the Party.

Wonderful.

“The democrats took away the foundation of the free market system.”

Whoever passed Sarbanes Oxley as an overreaction to Enron is to blame. I posted this elsewhere but I read on FR that there were no IPOs last year. None! No wonder the investment funds diverted to the property market and now to the commodities market. I hope oil drops but the damage done to investment houses (Goldman Sachs, etc.) with too much money in commodities might compound the present mess.

I really hope that you're right, but I have a suspicion that the recent trend in the polling will accelerate through midweek and level off by the end of the week. Mac will be down 10-15 then. This news cycle has been an utter disaster for Mac, and the momentum will be against him throughout the week. Also, consider that the “Obama Truth Squad” campaign, while despicable, will be effective at scaring off aggressive criticism of BO, at least somewhat. Mac needs an epic game changer to turn things around, and that's doubtful at this point.

That's what they did do. The reason they didn't get the insurance proposal to be implemented except as an option was that so many of the houses had already gone deep into foreclosure. It's too late to “insure” those loans.

But that is no excuse to take over investment in the decent loans.

The two matters should be kept separate.

If the Mac campaign has an unbelievable election strategy long term, it's a well guarded secret, because it's not evident at all. Time will tell, but time is running short: Mac will be down 10-15 going into the first weekend in Oct. Obama has a decisive advantage, and Mac's base has been utterly turned off recently (note the marked increase in the number of republicans polling for BO in recent polling).

Here is my letter to my congressman:

This is my first time to contact my congressman, but I am at the point where I need to vent in the most positive manner possible.

There seems to be a lack of debate in congress on the merits of whether we the taxpayers should foot the $700B bill for the "bailout". To me, I have always done my best to live within my means, and to be accountable for those financial decisons which may not always be in my best interests.

In this case, I am most afraid of the precedent being set. Does the government intervene any and/or every time there is institution or business segment making poor business decisons? Myself, I have always taken a conservative approach to finances, because I realized something like a financial crisis may occur. Now, as a taxpayer, I am having to foot the bill for bad management, and I resent it.

I strongly encourage you as my representaive to vote "no" on the bailout, and protect us taxapayers from another "pile on" to the almost 1 trillion dollar debt already there.

Thanks for hearing me out, and best regards to you.

I challenge every other Freeper out there to do the same. We are about to see the biggest infusion socialism in our entire lives. This is critical to our way of life as American.

Obama can take every news cycle for the next 3 weeks. It’s what happens in the final push that wins an election.

McCain is a seasoned military man. He knows when to shoot and when to hold his fire.

We are not being told everything by our Congress (as usual). A quick search under google, yahoo, dogpile, etc.. of the words “China bailout” has some interesting returns. Fannie and Freddie in almost all of it.

They have done more than that. The Palin effect been more than negated. Look for a dem turnout advantage of 15-20 points in upcoming polls, overtaking the highs from last spring. The republicans have turned off their base not necessarily for supporting the bailout but by the meek effort to shape it. After all the bluster about suspending the campaign, Mac has been virtually invisible, while Obama but active, with his party supporting him.

I don't mind you guys doing Obama’s bidding, but you're embarrassing yourselves and your leader.

Try to blend a little realism into your bleak diatribes, you might fool someone.

No, the Republicans will take away the free market system by voting for socializing our capitalist system -- all under the disguise of mass destruction if they did not act quickly.

The trading that occurred in the global credit markets (this problem is not just here), could have been an act of terrorism, it could have been insider trading, regulations, or could have just been the free market making money on mismanagement, or a combination. The reasons for the credit crunch itself however, was the greed and bad decisions made by the banks and lending companies themselves; this was not caused by terrorists.

Very good letter. Ever so much more polite than mine, but then again, I have been telling mine what I think for a long time...

The polls are BS.

If the internals looked great for Obama at this point they wouldn’t be feeding the meme to the press that if Barack loses it’s because we’re all racists.

Thank you very much for the link. I've watched it, and I can understand how and why the author of the articled you cribbed from, has written as he has.

I have two thoughts: 1.) what we are witnessing on this video is a PREAMBLE; not necessarily what will/did take place in the meeting. 2) We are in a WAR; and I'm not at all surprised that this situation calls for major discretion.

The video "voiceover" asserts that this "evidence" is what leads him to believe "end times are near" and that Christ is about to return.

I do have a comment upon this: Christ told us we would not know the time nor the date; and that other signs would be available which indicated such. Such signs were available leading on into the Great Depression.

I don't worry about when the Lord shall return. I offer up each day to Him; and it is always His choice and His will to be done.
