(CNN) John McCain will attend the first presidential debate in Oxford, Mississippi, a senior campaign aide tells CNN.

Crap. I don’t know what to make of this.
Does this mean he’s rolled over and is going to back the Paulson socialist plan to buy up mortgage trash?

This was John’s “I paid for this microphone!” moment, and it looks like he’s blown it.
They'll have to hastily rewrite all his scripts and talking points.
I’m glad. He needs to school Obama... or obama still in the gym I wonder???
Obama wins.
McCain caves in. Fell for their crap, and gave in. Now it all just looks like a stunt after all. Too bad. He should have stayed until they sign it. But, I am sure the dems wouldn’t sign while he was there.
All Obama proved is that he is a jerk, and he doesn’t contribute anything constructive.
Why? If there’s nothing to do in Washington tonight, why shouldn’t he go? It’ll show that he can multitask and do it splendidly should he do well in this debate, which I’m sure he will. I hope they don’t change things on him at the last minute to give Obama the edge. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do.
Wow. His campaign poll numbers must say that this backfired pretty bad.
On thing he has been doing this is successfully keeping Obama on the defensive and off guard. McCain is controlling the timeline.
I have faith that McCain has a game plan. Think strategy.
Obama’s gonna drown tonight.
I’d guess this is the right call. Political damage control. Had McCain skipped the debate without a deal in hand, he would look like the bad guy. He’s differentiated himself from BHO (who went to the gym) and probably has not good reason for not attending now that negotiations are underway.
Bet he intended to go all along, but wanted to show his priorities and expose Obama’s...
bull....this has been handled brilliantly by McCain. Can you imagine the viewer totals for this debate tonight?
I like your thinking. But will challenge your comment on Obama being given the edge should things change at the last minute.
I seriously do not believe Obama has what it takes to battle McCain in a debate, change or surprise.
Polls seemed to show McCain got a boost from this..
Think about this like a military strategy.. your enemy doesn’t know when or where you will strike, are they going to drop a bomb tomorrow, will they wait, when and where are we going to be attacked...
McCain is controlling the debate 100%- it is off or on, all based on what he says... Obama, however, is just reacting..
Imagine being in Obama’s shoes right now. Do I prep, what do I prep, when do I prep, do I need to be in DC, do I fly to Mississippi? He is spinning.
Like this was hard to predict. He now has Obambi dancing like a puppet.
McCain is now the anti-Bush on the bailout, protecting voters from a giant fraud. Now he comes to the debate with no prep (upsetting Obama’s intense bootcamp) and likely kicks butt.
New Bumper Sticker:
Support The Bush Obama Fatcat Bailout!
No can do. The Secret Service needed an answer by noon, for obvious reasons. Complicating their preparations would make him look like an irresponsible idiot.
