what will you do if you get sick and need to go to the hospital?

I will get well or die but I will die a free man.

I will die anyway, eventually, of something but I will die knowing I held true to my beliefs until the end.

You fear having to be self-sufficient. How pitiful and un-American.

Ari,

My family Doctor plants a vegetable garden as do I and almost everybody else I know around here. We all have cell phones, satellite dishes and soap.

...bail out Wall Street thieves, deadbeat homeowners, foreign banks, credit card defaulters and student loan frauds? Then do it with your money and leave mine alone. Writing a blank check for a trillion dollars to a democrat Congress led possibly by a marxist POTUS in 4 months is something I'm not interested in..

If the market crashes, Obama will be the next president. Count on the drive-bys to lead the voting heard in that direction.

Add to that a Democrat congress and we'll have wall-to-wall Democrats writing trillion dollar "blank checks" as far as the eye can see.

Just sayin', "yours" won't be left "alone" no matter which road we take on this.

The market isn’t going to crash. The same people that would make it crash need it to not crash in order to have a job.

Well, I think it’s not a good idea for anyone to try and give anyone else advice here, as opposed to mere guesses about what the market will do. There is, however, the old principle that you don’t try and catch a falling knife; i.e., timing the bottom is a fool’s errand. That said, whatever happens, deal or no deal, tangibles should weather the storm (gold, other metals and commodities like oil, even, believe it or not, real estate).

Nope, I'm done with this shit. No more compassionate conservatism here. No more allowing the government to fix what the government effed up and then thanking Chris Dodd and Barney Frank for forcing banks to lend to poor credit risks so they could save me from the beast. They are the damn beasts.

I hear ya brother, loud and clear. You can't cure cancer with aspirin - you've got to remove the infecting tissue. Barney F., Chris Dodd, Obama, and several others are the infecting tissue. Get rid of them, then deal with the rest.

It's time to whack the mafia, and that's what today's democrat party is - the mafia.

I'll vote Independent. My great grandfather was a doctor even long before FDR came to office. Many times his excepted currency or payment was livestock including chickens. Yet during his day he was evidently well off enough to afford what most could not even during the depression. He owned a Lizzy.

I wasn’t advocating a bail out, I was just responding to your class envy rhetoric regarding Wall Street investors.

Average Americans have something to lose on both ends of this deal. Taking time to make a careful decision is extremely important. I hardly understand all the ramifications of any of this, but I don’t want the same old legislators in charge of anything. I think that Newt Gingrich has had some good suggestions that should be considered.

But, in the end, I’m afraid that some sort of saving action is going to be necessary. Some of this could have been avoided if the immigration problem had been handled properly. I heard on the radio that a huge percentage of the bad loans in CA went to illegals.

I reject your premise which hapens to be the following:

To defeat socialism we must become socialists.

COme on, you know better than that. There are solutions to the current crisis which don't involve socializing losses on Wall Street while preserving "capitalism" where profits are concerned.

You're a smart guy, think it through a bit. There's no need to accept legislation that makes the SecTreasury the King of America. There are better solutions more in tune with conservative principles and free market capitalism. There is no need to drink the socialist tea and like it.

That’s cool, my great grandad was old school, lard and bread sandwiches..

Point being, if there is fiddling while Rome is burning there will be hell to pay on Nov 4.

It will be the lack of anything to buy and the inflation that will make your valuables... valueless.

This statement betrays a lack of understanding. In an inflationary scenario, people holding valuables will do just fine. The ones hurt by inflation are those holding money.

It's decision time. Do we want a free market economy where there are losers and winners OR do we want a full-blown communist society?

Dude, decision time was years ago with the CRA, with Clinton's modifications to the CRA, with Fanny and Freddy. Few people said anything about it at those times when our private banks were under fire by the Federal Government.

It was the Federal Government that picked winners and losers back then and the losers they picked were our private banks. And they will get it too.

Enjoy what follows.

"Nope, I'm done with this shit. No more compassionate conservatism here."

It wouldn't be Compassionate Concrvatism anyway, Compassionate Conservativism is volunteering at your church or school or volunteer fire department, helping your neighbor with his fence and maybe throwing a few bucks to a NON-government group to put a well down in an African village.

Right you are which is why my charitable contributions dwarf Biden and Obamas while my income severely lags theirs.

I will get well or die but I will die a free man.

And we will get well or die, but we will die a free country.

I like the ring of that. Amen.
