Well, we have our power back. Houses just across the bayou from us are still out. Our power was restored by a Christian power company from Oklahoma. We have seen trucks from Detroit, Oklahoma City, and Florida in our area. Over 31 states have sent crews. The lady I stayed with in New Orleans (insurance adjusting after Katrina) had her power out for 6 days after Gustav and the power company hadn't finished in Louisiana when Ike hit. Over 2 million customers without power in our area. Stellas and Forest neighborhoods still down. We were very blessed to only have fence and debris to clean up and fix. Stella and Forest too. Many, many large trees down with much building damage. But could have been much, much worse. Lots didn't hit houses. Cell service mostly back to normal now. About half the stop lights and a majority of street lights still out. This was the first hurricane to ever hit region where the temp didn't rise after. Had been steadily in the mid to upper 90's before and has stayed near 80 since. Made for a much more tolerable time without lights and a/c. Trying to get back to regular routine.
There were many houses on my daughter’s street that trees fell on...luckily mine got a garage hit..unfortunately on wires..It is all fixed now..We talked SIL into leaving daughter here until Tuesday because of his travel..It will give hima bit of breathing room, too.
Daughter helped me get my adult cat and the two kittens to the vet for checkups and shots today.
I know everyone will be happy for some normalcy..I am enjoying having company!
