Breaking: Obama Refuses to Delay the Debate

“In my mind, it’s more important than ever that we present ourselves to the American people and describe where we want to take the country and where we want to take the economy,” said the Democratic candidate for the Presidency, Senator Barack Obama.

The statement was given in response to Senator John McCain’s surprising announcement that he had suspended his campaign to focus on the looming financial crisis in America by returning to Washington to help craft and pass emergency legislation.

McCain had invited his opponent to join him in returning to Washington to deal with the crisis. He also asked for a delay in the first debate of the General election which is scheduled for Friday evening in Mississippi.

Senator Obama refused, telling the media “This is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess.” Earlier in the day, Obama had agreed to issue a joint statement with McCain concerning the crisis. However, sources in the Obama campaign are now intimating that Senator McCain’s move is some kind of political “ploy”.

Dufus is afraid he will forget all the memorizing he is doing to prepare for the debate. There is certainly more to it than THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. It is all about him . . .

Senator John McCain (R-AZ, Captain, U.S. Navy, retired) is playing chess, while Senator Barack Obama (D-Il, ACORN Alumnus) is playing checkers. Note to me: Call Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet and ask her to pick up more popcorn.

McCain is looking like he cant walk and chew gum at the same time! Tell him to get his butt in gear and campaign and debate NOW! Thats just a little higher calling than being one of 100 Blowhard Senators trying to get their name on somemore screwed up legislation. Damn, he shoots himself in the foot every darn time!

I don't think you could be more wrong. This is a crisis that needs more than Bovine Secretions that is all that the magic los negroes has offered...now is the time to take care of business...not bullshit!

True, but how will this be reported in the local media? Especially small-town-America media?

Obama gives the media their orders, since they are part of his campaign anyway.

McCain should offer to vote “Present” for Obama.

I like that idea, she does not have to be party to the bailout plan in any way. She can voice the concerns of her and McCain's constituents in that area.

McCain and “COUNTRY FIRST” the clear winner here and a brilliant move.

Only brilliant to the smart and the politically involved. The rest of America will hear from people like Letterman that McCain is an old fool who suspends important things like a campaign for piddly things like solving an economy crisis, and the laugh track will hypnotize his viewers into believing him.

IMHO the debates are generally so scripted as to be useless anyway.

I saw one suggestion today - have the debate but make it a debate on the credit problem itself !

Obama camp already has: "However, sources in the Obama campaign are now intimating that Senator McCain’s move is some kind of political “ploy”."

It’s already BEEN reported, by DRUDGE. MCCain was the one who suspended his campaign and called on Obama to return to Washington. Obama’s campaign got their message out AFTER THE FACT.

Nothing will change that. Obama can’t say he went public with the idea before McCain because he plainly did not and saying he “called” McCain and suggested they make a joint statement, and then REFUSING to go back to Washington clearly says the joint statement DID NOT include anything but words on a piece of paper.

The Dems and the MSM are spinning this like Barak, not McCain, can walk and chew gum at the same time. However, if this truly is the WORST crisis facing us in 75 years, it takes real leaders to work out the solution. First Reid says they are going to follow what McCain does (haha) and then says, “Don’t come back”. What a piece of work. McCain is going to have an impact on the solution....and may lose his Presidential run in the meantime. For Obama to stand there, alone, and look “Presidential” is a joke—but one the media will genuflect to it like the appearance of the second coming.

I continue to be more and more convinced this is the party of the mentally ill.

Charlie Rangel says Palin’s disabled.

I won’t even get into the gaffes of both Obama and Biden.

Now Harry Reid is saying of McCain this is a time for leadership and not photo ops.

You have to be so disconnected from reality to support this group it’s scary.

The debate McCain wants to be part of, in Congress - and feels he should be part of; Country First - is not the debate Obama’s handlers prepared him for - THAT’s THE PROBLEMO IN A KENYAN NUTSHELL!!!!
