True, but that's the figure being floated by Washington. Like everything else, they have low-balled it to try to sell us a Bill of Goods.
A problem is you make it sound so innocent. In fact huge amounts of money were being made. And political contributions for tweaking banking regs kept some in office. These people bankrupted our country - and they didn't do it just so everyone would have a home... And this bailout - it's more of the same. It'll help the multimillionaires but 6 months down the road we'll be back in the soup without the money we gave away to prop up the crooks who did this to us.

Attorney firings had genesis in White House (serving at the pleasure of the President)
The White House suggested two years ago (article - 2007...suggested firings 2005) that the Justice Department fire all 93 U.S. attorneys, a proposal that eventually resulted in the dismissals of eight prosecutors last year, according to e-mails and internal documents that the administration will provide to Congress today.
The dismissals took place after President Bush told Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales that he had received complaints that some prosecutors had not energetically pursued voter-fraud investigations, according to White House spokeswoman Dana Perino.
Gonzales approved the idea of firing a smaller group of U.S. attorneys shortly after taking office in February 2005. The Gonzales aide in charge of the dismissals his chief of staff, D. Kyle Sampson resigned yesterday, officials said, after acknowledging that he did not tell Justice officials about the extent of his communications with the White House, leading them to provide incomplete information to Congress.

BTW, low income housing and senior centers are part of ACORN's voter fraud per the ACORN article Fred Nerks posted yesterday. Can't wait until someone unveils Obama's Hopefund PAC.
Thanks for this informative post and data re Mrs. David Gregory, Beth Wilkinson, former Executive Vice President-General Counsel for Fannie Mae.
This explains why David Gregory is constantly stabbing GW and republicans in the back while pretending to be a non biased journalist.
He and his wife have been in bed with the elite DC/NYC rats, who have been raping and pillaging our financial system when the Clintoons took over.
