As I understand it, this is a federal crime. Don’t think Alaska has anything to do with it.

I don't know Alaska law, but in theory I would think that a state would have a right to go after someone who who committed information theft against the governor. The Feds would pursue their charges, and Alaska would also have a bite at the apple if its laws allowed it.

OK. Maybe. But it was Palin's private email account, not an official State email account. If somebody hacked my email I'd have a hard time imagining that Pennsylvania would prosecute the case, even in a secondary sense.

I'm not a lawyer, so your guess is as good as mine.
