Not only did we build this country using slide rules, we built the atomic and hydrogen bombs with slide rules and mechanical calculators. We also got to the moon and back, and except for telemetry, that was all slide rule work.

Scientific calculators replaced slide rules by the time I went to grad school, but I still have the slide rule Dad (who is a five years older than you) gave me when I went off to college: stainless steel with Teflon slide edges. It is a beauty.

Slide rules aren't for sissy boys.
