The thousands of FReepers who are silent on this thread may just be agreeing with you. Many will say nothing bad about a dying man, so they remain silent.

It's not necessarily that there are thousands of FReepers remaining silent, but thousands of FReepers who dare not say what they really feel due to standards of decency.

Do you remember the threads after he was taken ill and rushed to the hospital? The Mods were slapping down threads left and right...as was their job...because of the hatred and vitriol that was being posted. We were devolving into DU, f'rgoshsakes! Now, I am not defending the man, not by any means. However, we can't let ourselves stoop to the level of the brainless, emoting twits over on DU (and KOS, and HuffPo).

We have class. We are better than that....even if it means that we bite our tongues, mumble a few unmeant niceties, and turn our backs on the situation. In the end, it's far better than looking exactly like our enemies.

That's all I have to say.

I remember when Moynihan died, there were quite a few FReepers who reluctantly applauded him.

He was a great men, and you had no choice but to agree or disagree with what he said, but still respect him in the morning.

The Kennedy legacy is long and involved, and truly historical in America, no review of history would be complete without more than a mention of it.

So I can only offer prayers and condolences. Whether we agree with him or not, many have held Ted and the Kennedys as an example, and history will be the judge.

Somehow that reminds me of the saying that “all that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.’

I may or may not be a “good” man and there really isn’t much I can “do” but I can speak out.
