Let's all admit it. Racism is a factor in this election. It's not right and it shows we still have a long way to go.

From what I read, something like 90% of African Americans are voting for Senator Obama. If that isn't pure racism, nothing is.

Perhaps African Americans can rise above this someday and follow in the example of White Americans of whom the great majority vote on issues rather than race.

When that day comes, I will celebrate the end of racism in America. In the meantime, let's keep hope alive!

You clearly didn’t get the memo. Only whites can be racists and the only chance they have to redeem themselves is to vote for Obama while proclaiming that America is ready.

If racism is, sexism is. It’s baloney either way, supposedly the battle of those who dislike 10% of the population vs. those who dislike 50%.

Of course it is. It has always been that since the day the black guy got in the race. If you are white and you do not vote for him, there is ONLY ONE REASON AND ONE REASON ONLY, he was black and you are a racists. Nothing else. Not that he is unfit and untrained and simply is an idiot in an empty suit. It is and always will be about race. After he loses to McCain-Palin, it will be the talk of the MSM, how racist America IS AND STILL IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE, racist against the black guy. Of course now, if a black conservative were running and won, he would be an uncle Tom, having given in to white America, and thus not a black brother.

I have seen some polls that indicate that Obama may NOT be getting as much of the Black vote that many may have anticipated. I believe in Florida, if you looked at the internals in some of the latest polls, Blacks only supported him by 85%, which to me is rather low considering the fact that most Democrat candidates in the past (all White), have gotten at least that much of the Black vote.

Could there be something of a backlash against Obama? Perhaps he is not "Black" enough (50%), or maybe that he wasn't raised in the typical "Black Experience". Not sure, but it will be interesting to see the final results.

The figures against Hillary -— another liberal -— were 96% blacks voting for Obama.

It’s staggering racism.

A great deal of it has to do with black preaching. I was astounded to hear black pundits observe that Jeremiah Wright was not even considered a radical by most of Black America, that, in fact, the average black church is full of political diatribes against "rich white men." With a few notable exceptions, the black pulpit is keeping racism alive in America.

Maybe so, but not with me. I would love to elect a Black American to the Presidency—and many are highly qualified—but not Obama.

Racism is a factor for many Obama supporters.
Age-ism is a factor for many McCain supporters.
Feminism is a factor for many Palin supporters.
Plagiarism is a factor for many Biden supporters.

it’s higher than 90%

“what” folks are and identify “as” shapes their perspective always and usually in the end trumps everything

i have argued this here with moderate freepers since the day I joined 8 years ago

Affirmative action (aka affirmed racism) is the only way Hussein can hope to emerge as the victor. Race is the only card obama plays.

Martin Luther King Jr. would've voted for McCain because MLK Jr. was a lifelong Republican. Just thought I'd toss that in here.

I have friend who is African American; I refer to his race because it is relevant to this discussion. He is one of the 10% that is supporting John McCain. His main reason is that McCain will make a better Commander in Chief. He says he also is skeptical of Obama, because he reminds them of the neighborhood activists(community organizers) where he grew up, who act like they're victims, instead of teaching people how to stand up as individuals. He said the flack he is getting from his family and some friends for supporting McCain is pretty bad. It's upsetting him, but he's not going to waiver. He's voting based on what he thinks is best for America. He put it this way: “When we vote we should vote as just Americans, not partial ones. When I'm in the voting booth, I'm 3 colors..Red White & Blue” The man is a true patriot.

Racism is a factor... but when you look at it, its mostly a wash.

Blacks will vote in large numbers for him, simply because he’s black. Certain whites will vote him simply because of “white guilt”, and certain others won’t vote for him no matter what because of the simple fact he is black.

In the end these 3 will balance each other out, but rather than blame their message, and a horrible candidate selection the press will blame white racists for Fauxbama’s loss. Why? Simple... Liberals can not handle the truth. When they are rejected on issues and principle, they have to spin it as faults in others, not faults in themselves.

I just can’t keep up with this stuff. Seems only a few months ago our local blacks were saying BO is not really black because he has a white momma and was raised white. Didn’t Jesse Jerkoff have something to say on this point?

It just befuddles me. Black, sort of black, bigots, the whole this is just distasteful. I guess its McCain.

I think the word you're looking for is bigotry, not racism.

A bigot is a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own, and bigotry is the corresponding state of mind. Bigot is often used as a pejorative term against a person who is obstinately devoted to prejudices even when these views are challenged or proven to be false or not universally applicable or acceptable.

Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

I have no objection to vanities, as long as they are marked as such. Would you mind adding (vanity) to the title the next time you post one, so I can decide if I want to read it or not?

Someone pointed out this is posted in chat, but I view replies, so I have no idea if it is ‘chat’ or an editorial.

And I agree with your point.
