The day America was born again
TimesOnline ^ | 9/12/2008 | Justin Webb

It doesn't matter who wins! Seriously, guys, America is about to become, once again, the coolest place on Earth.

An era is ending. If you still think the US is home to all that is fatty and unwholesome and militaristic and cloth-eared and generally low-grade, and not much else, it may be time to give the Yanks another chance. Nothing Sarah Palin and her followers can do will prevent America's steady movement away from social conservatism

Politically, socially, culturally, America is - as we watch transfixed and, in spite of ourselves, impressed - being born again.

Suddenly we are reminded of why 55 million people have chosen to come to America in the roughly 400 years since that journey became possible. We are reminded of why Americans are so deeply, annoyingly, attached to their nation and their system. We are reminded of how vibrant that system can be.

On the contrary Mr. Webb, I think the UK is the one reborn.

Revealed: UK’s first official sharia courts.

Enjoy.

Whew, journalism is so much easier when one doesn’t have to concern themselves with pesky facts.

Sarah Palin proves that social conservatives are cool. She shatters the liberal stereotype that social conservatives must look like this:

BWAAAHHAAAHAA!

You beat me to it. That was going to be nearly my exact response.

See, the thing about liberals is...they think EVERYONE has exactly the same opinions as they do, and anyone who doesn’t is just downright WRONG!

That wouldn’t be so bad, except they just don’t get out much and are always shocked to find out someone might not think their wonderful utopias are not the best things since sliced bread.

George Will made the same argument in 1996 saying that Americans expected a certain amount of govt services that went beyond the constitutionally mandated services.

"America is often portrayed as an ignorant, unsophisticated sort of place, full of bible bashers and ruled to a dangerous extent by trashy television, superstition and religious bigotry, a place lacking in respect for evidence based knowledge. I know that is how it is portrayed because I have done my bit to paint that picture..."

"BBC's Washington correspondent Justin Webb, in a remarkably frank admission of his role in misinforming the British public about America and Americans."

This article makes very little sense. Would it be possible to translate it into English?

Americans hunger for mobile phone networks that work.

This one is Clinton's fault. During his reign, the PCS spectrum was auctioned off. Consultants were asked their opinion as to what would be the best way to get the next gen cellular product, and they answered: Let a few large companies provide a nationwide footprint. People will want a phone that works all across the country. It will be cheaper, and since there will be a few large providers, there will be more money spent to develop high tech phones and services for these bigger nationwide providers.

Clinton of course rejected the advice of the experts and insisted that the nation be broken up into hundreds of tiny little cell areas, each with 6 to 9 pieces of bandwidth, so that minority and female service providers could get into the industry. The result was a nightmare, with many investment groups running up the bidding on bandwidth and then going bankrupt. It was years before any halfway decent company was able to piece together a nationwide footprint to offer the next gen cell service that the public wanted. Asia and Europe had camera phones, large color screens, digital and CDMA technology years before the US.

It's amazing this guy gets paid for his masturbation fantasies. I thought you could only get that kind of job with Hustler.
