local congressperson livid that busses with supplies are sitting around.

Uuuuuh ............. don't the roads have to be cleared of debris and power-lines first? But congress critters are used to getting what they want by simply jacking their jaws.

Meanwhile somebody has to roll up their sleeves and do some real work to get the job done. That kind of stuff doesn't seem to come to the MSM's attention for some reason . Instead they concentrate on the load mouth jaw jackers.

Well the msm can think it's good news. I think it's an opportunity to repeat my tagline.

Drill HERE! Drill NOW!

MORE refineries! Pay LESS!

“at least two drilling platforms were free-floating in the gulf”

That’s good news. There are over 3,000 platforms in the Gulf. Katrina and Rita damaged over 100.

Bingo!

Gas went up six cents nationally just because Ike forced a few refineries to shut down. Obama is going to have serious trouble explaining why the laws of supply and demand work in every situation except getting more oil supply.

The mandatory evacuation orders were made earlier in the week. Do you know when exactly? I saw some folks being taken from one of the islands yesterday and try as they might, the media couldn't get the lady to say anything bad about the help they were getting. The reporter asked at least half a dozen leading questions trying to get the woman to complain about standing in the heat, or the wait, or whatever and the lady just kept saying how wonderful it was that they were being helped and how blessed and thankful they were.

A storm that large, with mandatory evacuation orders shouldn't have been ignored. If they can't get to those who are trapped it isn't the fault of FEMA.

I apologize if that post sounded like I was attacking you - I was responding to the media and their bias. Sorry if it came across badly toward you.

I report. You decide. LOL!

The Congressmans point was that the rescue workers cannot work well without water and food. He said many were starting to drop from exhaustion, dehydration and lack of food. Right now...the news station has a helicopter over Galveston. At least the seawall held!

Go to ktrk news site .....they have live coverage ;)

According to your post

Also, rescue workers not getting the FEMA help with water and food....local congressperson livid that busses with supplies are sitting around.

I believe that would be Sheila Jackson Lee.  You know, the woman who talked confidently about how we had already walked on Mars.  The hyper partisan Bush hater.  That Sheila Jackson Lee.  I think she wants a Katrina bonus for her district just like William Jefferson and the other New Orleans Congress rats got by blaming Bush for their own failures and corruption.

Actually, and I hate to say it, a sharp increase in gasoline prices will drive home the Republican’s message to have more drilling and more stable refineries, like in Alaska. The Republicans just need to keep focus on the message that we need more drilling in all parts of the country and not cave into fake Democrat proposals.

It was not her LOL! It was a middle-aged gentleman. He had been out in his district helping locals doing recovery, search and rescue and then, made the statement.

Right, if the pipelines were damaged or leaking wouldn’t we be seeing oil slicks along the coast somewhere?

Why do I have the feeling that this is more fear-mongering reporting vis a vis Geraldo? I’m not sure I’d believe this from AP, where “Chicken Little” is the editor in chief.

Old graphic, but illustrates the locations of rigs and production platforms in the Gulf.

Note there is NO new drilling. Note also, the rigs south of the Mississippi Coast boast some the best fishing anywhere!

Find out what **really** happened? No problem. Right here.

MMS Report on Hurricane Impact

The DriveBy jerkoffs are down to their usual crappy tricks, 'reporting' whatever looks 'sensational' instead of the true story. This time, the true story is that the US Gulf coast dodged a large bullet. I'm not trivialising Ike, but the plain facts are that A) damage generally is WAY less than expected, B) Gulf production and refining facilities received a comparatively light hit, and C) production and refining facilities are being repaired with, frankly, amazing speed.

For example, both the Colonial and Plantation pipes are **UP**, right now this minute, operated at reduced rates. They **were** expected to be out for 3-4 days.

Note there is NO new drilling. Oops! My bad, mind works faster than fingers.

Note there is NO new drilling in coastal waters.
