'Dimwitted' and In Need of a 'Chaperone': Palin Has Press at Point of Panic
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

"I’ve gotten the scary feeling, for the first time in my life, that dimwittedness is not just on the march in the U.S., but that it might actually prevail." -- Bob Herbert, NYT, 9-13-08

Bob Herbert's item in today's New York Times, She's Not Ready, is not so much political analysis as a howl of MSM shock and outrage. No-o-o-o-o!, Herbert seems to cry. I can't believe this is happening to us! Meanwhile, with condescension worthy of Charlie Gibson, ABC's David Wright suggests that Palin has been in need of a "chaperone" on the campaign trail.

Keep on spewing, Bob! America’s women in the heartland are taking close note of everything you and your ilk are saying about Governor Palin.

It’s always hilarious to hear the rodentia claim that their rivals are dimwits. If a law was passed banning everyone with an IQ below 90 from voting, the Obama ticket would be lucky to win three states.

Ya’ know, when I read stuff like this, it almost seems reasonable to me to get online, buy a ticket to NY, fly out there and slap this fool upside the head.

Then I take another sip of coffee and realize what a hell this man must already be in (and is headed for)and I’m glad I live here 2,000 miles away (not that MN is paradise either).

What we're hearing are the death screams of the MSM. If they can't get their favored candidate elected, its curtains time for them!

There are definately people this fall who need “chaperones” and IMO, it is NOT Palin.

It is the Main Stream Press, who have become more like screaming cheerleaders for a cult figure and less like what a journalist is supposed to be.

I am more than thankful that I didn’t follow my mother’s wishes and become a “journalist”.
These people need to get their meds stabilzed and take a good look at themselves in the mirror.

What a bunch of out of control howling monkeys.

The veil is off the “feminism movement” and the look inside the tent really isn’t pretty.

if what Schwarzeneggar says that Russert (and I'm ill-advisedly trusting my memory here, no time to search out the quote) told him, that he could make him President, apparently in spite of Constitutional requirements, it's clear that the press believes it is the Constitution, although delusionally so. BTW, are you old enough to know or remember what they did to Goldwater 44 years ago?

What the media elites really hate is that, as Mark Penn said, this election has become about them... and they are losing. There are going to be a lot of empty Chardonnay bottles on the floor of the old gray lady’s wine cellar soon.

On the campaign trail, it is McCain who needs Palin, not the other way around. The attendance at McCain rallies has markedly increased since Palin was added to the ticket. I bet Palin outdraws McCain when they have separate rallies. She is the main attraction and generates far more energy and enthusiasm. She doesn’t need a chaperone, just a bigger security detail to control the crowds.

If our people need chaperones it’s because the leftists need ankle monitors.

Actually the MSM believes that they ARE the way Americans think. They cannot possibly see the public do anything they have not told them to do.

Their Iraq War/Vietnam strategy failed miserably in spite of their strongest effort. What they fail to realize is that the Internet has revealed their true color; Yellow.

DAVID WRIGHT: Sarah Palin will be out on the campaign trail herself today, for the first time without her running-mate as a chaperone.
I hope the mainstream media all go bankrupt.”

She will be in Carson City, Nevada’s capital this afternoon. I live within 40 miles of there, but cannot be there.
I think the crowd she will draw will be stupendous.

It is my considered opinion, and it has been ever since the event happened, that Watergate was a Drive-By Media coup d’état.

What an incredibly sexist comment! The women of America heard it!

“that dimwittedness is not just on the march in the U.S., but that it might actually prevail.”

My daughter, for two or three years of her adolescence, classified everything of which she disapproved as “stupid”. Things that she disliked but could not make a cogent, rational objection to, all got lumped into the “it’s stupid” category. Then her brain finished developing, she discovered how to employ rhetoric, and her objections became more coherent. Liberals have run out of reason and the ability to engage in adult discourse; what they can’t articulate an argument against is ‘stupid’. Bush, Palin, even ‘the Gipper’ got the label. It reveals their abject frustration and the inability to formulate a reasoned, mature response. Expect to see more of it.
