How’s it up your way FGS?
Thinking of you!!
Muddling through bert; thanks for asking.
In our area Ike didn't do quite as much damage as Rita three years ago -- but bad enough. We lost power well before Ike came ashore, and you may recall we're about 100 miles inland.
Operating on a generator for now, and probably for as long as I can afford to keep gas in it. At 8 - 10 gallons a day, every day, it don't take long to add up. Add to that for the time being having to drive 80 miles round trip to the nearest gas in Lufkin Tx. Several family members here including 3 grandbabies, so it's not just a convenience having the power available from a generator, it's very nearly a necessity. Turned just about everything off in the house a little while ago so my daughter could do a big load of wash. The washing machine isn't so bad, the dryer, on the other hand, draws some serious current.
From most accounts we will probably be without elec for several weeks. Up here in these piney woods we're sortof at the end of the line when it comes to restoring utility services. Just one of the joys of living in the country ;^)
