Obama "Old Man" Ad Attacks McCain's War Disabilities
NRO - The Corner ^ | 12 September 2008 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 09/12/2008 4:01:22 PM PDT by PhatHead

The Obama campaign is mocking John McCain for not using a computer. From the AP story about the computer illiterate ad:

"Our economy wouldn't survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats," [Obama spokesman Dan] Pfeiffer said. "It's extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn't know how to send an e-mail."
Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by "extraordinary." The reason he doesn't send email is that he can't use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
In a similar vein I guess it's an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn't know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it's like to navigate New York's highways.

Come ON! My gosh, his face is not showing ANY discomfort!

At any rate, he admitted himself that he is learning to get online and he emails on his blackberry. So which is it - he doesn’t because he is so impaired, or he just didn’t bother?

And there are many people who are or who have severely disabled people in their family, so McCain doesn’t have the monopoly on the disabled p.c. card.

I cannot believe how freepers are willing to contort themselves for the same person that was vilified on this forum just a couple of short years ago.

It’s the Schwarzenegger effect all over again. John McCain is a liar and most on here know it. The only difference is that we don’t want Obama to win.

Whatever, vote for McCain to avoid Obama but I’m not going to suspend reality or compromise myself for John McCain.

So he can use a Blackberry. That doesn't mean he can handle a full size keyboard with his injuries.

Lijahsbubbe, try clinging to Jesus. It helps people conquer bitterness. ;-)

BTW, I have about three touchy vertebra and there have been times that even using a mouse has been one of the causal factors in significant symptoms.

As an idea it's quite off. Donald Knuth, one of the greatest computer scientists ever, hasn't used email since 1990.

Well, they try to do a good job. I think the admins do all right, but it can be a little variable.

Don’t take it personally. I don’t think they like having stuff being sold on here so they are on the lookout.

I can tell you are posting it because you are proud of your work, but they need to make sure advertising doesn’t get out of hand. I don’t think they mind just a little.

Oh, I know. I’ve been posting the graphic for a month or so - just added the link by request based on replies I got. I’ll lay low and re-post later with no link...

The ad they run should include the Boston Globe quote and end with Sarah saying "I'm Sarah Palin and I'm about to seriously lick someone's a$$!"

Repeat after me: "Proofreading is my friend. Proofreading is my friend..."

How in the hell does this commercial slip past Joe Biden who's had to have known for 30+ years that his fellow US Senator John McCain has physical limitations caused by his brutal interrogation at the hands of his North Vietnamese captors?

Joe certainly knows better. Obama's campaign isn't asking Biden a thing. Biden is just mailing it in now hoping that this next several weeks flies by so he can get back to doing whatever it was he was doing before this annoying interruption of his life he agreed to in being Obama's VP choice.

Someone please read and act on this. Obviously John McAin can’t use a keyboard due to his torture...but why not attack this ad with something along the lines of “We know what John McCain was doing in the ‘80s” but what about Obama? Wasn’t Barry experimenting with cocaine and other ilicit drugs? Hell I am in the miliatary and if I ever did drugs, I would never have gotten my security clearance. How can this man hold the keys to the football if he isn;t even eligible for a TS clearance?

The Obama campaign goes large with Biden's theme of telling guys in wheelchairs to stand up

Think he would have told FDR that? What morons these people are.

This and Obama appearing on SNL during Ike will be the end of his campaign.

Obama will be on SNL and they have a skit where Fey will portray Palin.
