Based on the price per barrel of oil, gas ought to be around $2.75 per gallon.

We can freeze the price and not hurt too many people. We’re gonna have more than a few refineries under water by tonight.

By my estimates that should be correct. At 147.00 a barrell I was paying 4.10 gal. I am now paying 3.59 a gal and the price is at almost 100.00 per barrell!!

I guess they think we can't add or subtract either!! BASTARDS!!

The price "ought" to be what the market will bear. You're on a slippery slope toward central planning the minute you tell a businessperson what they "should" charge for their product. Price freeze is simply a bad idea, every time. Always will create a shortage.

I am not sure I agree with this. I would not like to be in TX right now with an empty tank and willing to pay anything to get gas and "save my life", only to be told that there is no gas because KY has artificially lowered the price of gasoline.

I agree, it should be at or below 2.75. It isn't they say, because they have to plan ahead for things like refineries shutting down, etc, so why do they raise the price of gas, on speculation there will be a shortage. No rig has been damaged thus far. Wait till one is and look at the effect that one rig will have. Refineries closing happens on major holidays too, but the price doesn't go up 1 or 2 dollars! It ridiculous. Why not wait and see IF there is any damage before they jump the gun and up the price?

Maybe we should have Congress just take over all the refinery's.
