The worst ones were when I was a child. Before I was 10, Audrey (CAT 4 at landfall) and Camille (the second most intense hurricane to hit the US). I was born and raised in Louisiana. I’m not worried about the wind, it’s not even going to be 100 mph when it gets here, we’re watching the potential for flooding.

Read post 418. This will not be normal Cat 2 surge, just as Katrina's surge was not that of a Cat 3.

As I suspected, you are stuck on wind speed. This is a freak storm, unlike anything you have experienced.

You need to read and listen...this storm is all about size and water surge--not about wind. Portions of Galveston are already flooded now. Galveston is forecast to be totally under water tonight.

Believe me, I know what it is like when faced with the evacuation decision. This may be the only time in your life when it is a really sensible time to bug out.
