The eye is projected to hit the east end of the island, and the Bolivar peninsula. GOOD NEWS ... that's a bunch better than landfall at west end or surfside Would be good news.. but, wrong.. The radar images are pretty solid now... this puppy is still moving on the same line... it will come ashore just west of Galveston.

Ike is located about 135 miles SE of Galveston Bay. Moving NW
at 12 mph. Flooding in coastal MS, LA occurring with Ike
hundreds away from the affected areas. Coastal storm surge flooding of up to 20 feet with a few spots to
near 25 feet above normal tides along with large and dangerous
battering waves can be expected near and to the east of where
the center of Ike makes landfall.
Winds 105 mph, 955 mb.
