Washington is the latest state to show a strong western surge for John McCain since he added Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to the Republican ticket.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Washington finds Barack Obama still ahead, but barely. It’s Obama 49%, McCain 47%. A month ago, Obama was up by twelve percentage points. Recent polls have shown McCain gains in Montana, New Mexico and North Dakota.

Among Democrats, Obama now attracts 83% of the vote, down six points from last month. However, the big change comes among unaffiliated voters who now favor McCain by a 48% to 43% margin. In August, before the two parties held their conventions, Obama led by twelve among voters not affiliated with either major political party (see demographic crosstabs).

So another campaign statement is going by the wayside.

The 50 state idea was a pipe dream, even if he raised one billion, it wouldn't work. They need to win in Ohio, Colorado, NH and VA. Bottom line, they will toss all their cash as flipping a red state with enough votes to matter and hope to get a smaller one in the process.

Those of us in the DC Metro area will be inundated with Obama/McVain ads from now until the election.

Georgia is one state were Obama has canceled ads. McCain way up here, Georgia is not even close to being in play.

I suspect there could be a changeup to Clinton. I also think the world scene would be screaming, Whe the heck will we be dealing with if there is a democratic administration?

I cant wait to see what Oregon’s numbers are. If we are really -2 in Washington...Oregon must be right there or even a tie.

You are right Obama is going to run out of money defending his playing field.

Considering that the Seattle PI is one of the most leftist papers in the country, and shills for Obama in every single story, this is AMAZING.

America is waking up folks. Just in time for the eye of Hurricane Sarah to hit!

The DNC is in trouble, Gallup just suggested Republicans may take back the house, the generic ballot is almost even.

All those dems he promised money downticket and support to, he can’t deliver it and now no more money pouring in and McCain sitting on his huge budget, Obama is going to have to be very careful where cash goes, better sell that mansion and that plane, ask Sarah if she’ll stick it on Ebay for him.

Washington, one of the 8 states voting for Dukakis being in Play is a BIG DEAL
If Washington is in play, Oregon to our south must be even or maybe in the McCain camp. Oregon with less of its population living in a ‘metropolitan’ area tends to be just a little more conservative that WA.

I went to a rather large fair in Western Washington yesterday and saw many more McCain stickers than Obama paraphernalia. I was pleasantly surprised.

I was also encouraged by the positive comments my family and I were receiving from the McCain stickers we were wearing.

Not really....over on DU they are celebrating the one outlier poll that has Obama up by 5 in Ohio.

Well, I guess when you are starved for good news like they are over there, you get a bit excited over something like that.

What's massive is that EVERY DemonRat county caucus picked Barry over Hillary back in the spring. Not just the liberal cities up and down the I-5 corridor, but even the boondocks.

I've long said that not every Hillary voter would vote for Obama in a general election, it seems that not every Obama voter would vote for him then, either.

So hopefully it will be tougher for Gregoire to steal this election? Are there any poll numbers out there?

California is not in play. It’s McCain making a feint in California much as Bush did very late in the 2000 campaign.

Obama will now have to spend some money here just to get polling data and see what the heck is going on in this state.

With all the states that are just now coming into play we may soon see the limits of Obama’s bankroll.

They never thought they would have to defend, they thought they would walk this, hence the 100 million crap convention, 7 million? for that styrofoam set and a massive payroll that makes a small country’s deficit look trivial.

They are burning money thinking they would’nt need to actually defend themselves and the funniest thing is the republican war machine hasnt even opened its pandora’s box on Obama yet.

Wow that’s still close. They should still be able to “find” enough votes in King County again to put her over the top?

Actually, not so stunning. I think McCain has a better chance of WA than of winning MI or PA. All year, he has polled very strong there and has consistently been within the MOE of any Dem candidate.
