Democrat October Surprise? Joe Biden Steps Down, Hillary Clinton To Rescue
ThePostChronicle ^ | Sep 11, 2008 | Marc Centanni

An October surprise might be brewing. And not just your ordinary run-of-the-mill type of surprise, but a blockbuster one of epic proportions. Hillary Clinton supporters, your dream may not be dead yet.

In one of the more memorable moments in the Democratic presidential primaries came last year when debate moderator NBC anchorman Brian Williams asked Sen. Joe Biden about his reputation for talking too much.

Williams asked Biden, who was described by the Los Angeles Times as a "gaffe machine," if he could reassure voters that he would have enough verbal discipline needed for the world stage.

"Yes," Biden replied with a grin and a twinkle in his eyes, CNN Reports.

The third Senator from Pennsylvania has made two gaffes in the past week and one of them might actually have a little hidden meaning.

The other day when he stopped by Columbia, MO. The Senator was speaking before a large crowd when he decided to give special recognition to State Senator Chuck Graham, a Columbia Democrat.

"Chuck, stand up, let the people see you," Biden shouted.

However, Biden did not realize that Graham is confined to a wheelchair.

"Oh, God love you. What am I talking about? I'll tell you what, you're making everybody else stand up, old pal. I'll tell you what, everybody else stand up for Chuck. Stand up for Chuck!" Biden said.

Then yesterday, Biden attracted attention for telling a crowd in New Hampshire that Sen. Hillary Clinton "might have been a better pick" as Obama's running mate.

"Make no mistake about this," Biden said. "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let's get that straight. She's a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she's easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me."

Wow. Is Biden about to take a dive?

World Net Daily writes: 'Intrade is currently predicting a 7.9 percent chance Biden will be dropped. Until the election is over, the Biden trading category will fluctuate in value between 0 and 100 like a stock reacting to daily news. The price has been steadily increasing since yesterday when Biden said Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., could have been a better candidate for Obama's running mate.'

WND also has the video.

On Fox's "Hannity & Colmes" last night, Sean Hannity asked Gov. Ed Rendell, D-Pa., "Will they replace Biden with Hillary?"

Rendell replied, "No, absolutely not. Joe Biden is here to stay. Next vice president of the United States."

The problem is how to extract Biden from the ticket and replace him with Hillary without making look obvious. However such a move might be perceived as yet again another indicator that Obama cannot make up his mind on anything.

The only way to make it happen is for Biden to save face. Call me cynical but I see a "personal reason" on the horizon for Joe Biden. And what will they offer him to make it an attractive option?

Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton had a two hour meeting today. The lunch meeting at was at Clinton's office in New York City and was the first between them since the presidential primary campaign that caused a rift between the two Democrats.

The beginning of the meeting was open to reporters and was your usual political fare. Clinton predicted Obama will win the White House "pretty handily."

The AP reports that the pair also talked behind closed doors later. A joint statement says the former president and the Democratic nominee discussed the campaign briefly, but mostly talked about how the world has changed since 9/11. How much you want to bet that the conversation also included, "If I pick your wife will you not F@!k with me?"

You see, word out is that the reason Obama did not pick Hillary the first time is because he did not want a presidency with three heads running the White House. The problem is that of governance. However if you do not win, as FOX commentator Charles Krauthammer puts it, "you cannot govern."

Biden was a safe pick before the phenom known as Sarah Palin. Now it's a case of Obama's reptile dysfunction versus McCain political Viagra.

Waht to do, what to do..

“I agree. It would be seen for what it is: a desperate political ploy; and it would demonstrate Obama’s poor judgement in choosing Biden for the VP slot.”

If you know that you are going to lose the game, your last move is to throw a “Hail Mary”. Or in this case, a “Hail Hillary”.

Yeah, I know this is kinda different

It's VERY different.

For one thing, Obama and Biden aren't on any ballots - not really. There are 538 US citizen Democrats who are running for the position of Elector for President and Vice President of the United States.

Once they are elected, they can vote for anyone they wish - or anyone they are told to vote for. (Yes, I know about "faithless elector" laws, but they are surely unconstitutional).

In fact, if the person who "wins" the election in November dies before the Electoral College meets in December, the electors can do whatever they damn well please. If the President-elect dies after the Electoral College votes (and, in fact, there IS no President-elect before that), then the Vice President-elect becomes President on January 20 per Amendment XX.

The Clintons have enormous room for maneuver here, without involving the courts or state election laws AT ALL.

Replacing Biden with Shrillary would be a media sensation, and would cause even more Europeans to favor Obama.

But we knuckle-dragging middle Americans would see through such a crass act and Obama would even more look like an indecisive wuss.

He would still lose. Because Palin is authentic and Shrillary is, well shrill. Palin is middle America and Shrillary is fake. Palin is a real woman and likes men; as for Shrillary ... ‘nuff said.

because blacks will FREAK OUT and many won’t vote, saying whitey stole it away from him, and he is now slave to master hillary

That's why they will do it between November 5 and December 8.

Obama missed his last chance to "choose life" - his own - when he dissed Hillary over the VP selection process.

A leopard can't change its spots, and neither can the Clintons.

Nope. If they’re considering it, it will be precious time wasted.

Too many people have a hand in this decision.
Sweet Caroline was involved, and you don’t throw a Kennedy under the bus. A bridge, yes, but not a bus.

Screamin’ Dean has a say, and Dems better hope he doesn’t say anything...ever...again.

I’m guessing Michelle wants to be queen, tough to do that when all eyes are on Hillary!

Nope. They will be down in the polls with a month to go.
Their hail mary is the first POTUS debate. Their October surprise is happening right now. Obama has one month to eliminate all ahh’s, ummm’s, errr’s, from his speech habit, or it’s, um, ah, er, over.

I am happy to discuss it at length and without rancor. This is a subject which has fascinated me since its occurrence. When I saw Rudy kill Oswald I immediately knew something was very wrong with the Official explanation. That has only been confirmed with the passage of time and with all the formerly classified information being released and the statements of people who were in a position to know such as Ragano who kept silent as long as Santo Traficante was alive. His death removed the lawyer/client privilege.

On a different subject, Do you have any contacts at the UofC who may have taken Zero’s classes or have any information about his teaching there?

I find it really hard to picture HRC accepting that role. How demeaning would it be for her to be “only” the vice-president? She would have to suffer through all the attention being paid to the president and first lady while she has to quietly sit in the background. I just can’t picture her wanting to be in that position. VP’s just don’t get the kind of attention she craves.

I thought he was “earning” his executive experience by running his campaign. Obviously, if he changes his mind regarding his “hand picked man”, he leaves himself exceptionally vulnerable to criticism. But don’t kid yourself... these slimeballs will do anything to win. McCain camp needs to consider this option and be prepared to counter.

What he's not saying is, "But I got picked anyway, you (fill in the blank) Hillary!"

I agree with you about Biden. I hate his politics, but there is something likeable about him

Exactly. He's an ass but he has that Steve Martin thing going.

Who thinks Obama will even get a second term-—in the event he is actually elected?

I don’t think there would be a second term for BHO.

Hillary’s chances may actually be only 4 years away.

If Obama wins, he will usher in a stronger Dimacrat Majority which will bring back "The Fairness Doctrine" to silence Conservative dissent and assure their Socialist ascendancy.

Virtually every claim about the case is invalid. Particularly laughable is the claim that LHO, a poor shot, could carry a rifle back and forth across Texas and La. reassemble it and shoot JFK with no practice no sighting in the sights. Expert snipers have said they could not duplicate the shooting and it has not been done even with stationary targets.

So much Barbara Streisand! I might have been willing to be at least skeptical about what you posted but for one thing.

When I visited Dealy plaza, I was shocked at how small and closed in every thing is there! I always imagined a vast expanse of space but it seemed to me that anyone could reach out with a flyswatter from the Texas School Book Depository's sixth floor window and slap anyone on Elm Street. Oswald's shot was much easier than most have reported through the years.

The Army Ordinance Laboratory technicians were afraid to even fire it for fear it would blow up in their faces. The sights were so misaligned the Lab had to physically shim it up to get any accuracy from the notoriously inaccurate gun. And the Magik Bullet is beyond laughable getting into the Surreal. It is something only the media could swallow. And that is exactly who was pushing Posner as hard has it could.

As for the sights being so misaligned, every person's eyesight is different. Misaligned sights for you may be in perfect adjustment for me or even for Lee Harvey Oswald. As for Oswald being a poor shot, extensive practice can make the poorest shooter a master marksman. With a little practice an individual can compensate for a mis-mounted scope.

Occam's Razor must be applied. Oswald was a crazy nut as evidenced by his whole life up to his infamous deed. He alone assassinated President Kennedy and was in turn assassinated by Jack Ruby. Now put it to bed, Johnson is dead.

Your or my impression of the difficulty of the shot is irrelevant. That of top snipers is very relevant and that is what THEY say. And it is a fact that the shooting has NOT been duplicated though many have tried to do so.

The point is that Oswald did NOT have extensive practice. There are no reports of him practicing at all though there are reports of someone claiming to be him shooting at another shooter’s target at a gun range. This occurred when the real LHO was at work.

Applying any logic to this not to mention Occum’s razor makes it impossible to believe the collection of illogic supporting the Lone Assassin Theory. Particularly since LHO was on record as an admirer of JFK and was perfectly competent to understand LBJ would take over with most policies remaining the same. The few clips of him show him to be well-spoken and apparently intelligent. And there is no doubt that he was intelligent enough to learn Russian well enough that native born Soviets did not know he was foreign.

LHO’s life seems to be an episode from his favorite tv show as a kid, I Led Three Lives, which was about a double agent infiltrating Communist front groups. Or was he a part of the real US program to send false defectors to the USSR? Nothing with Oswald is as it seems.
