French listed his service as "USMC (ROTC) 1977-1978," which he later explained was six weeks training at the Quantico, Va., Marine Corps base.
Sounds like he might have taken ROTC in college, then spent part of a summer training at Quantico.
But if that's all he did and he wasn't commissioned, he most certainly can not claim the title of United States Marine. Semper Fi ...
