(McCain/Palin 08 BASE IS RALLIED!)
To: Cinnamontea
The audience instantly knew that Obama was making reference to Palin's lipstick joke. Now the guy holds a press conference in which he can't even own up to his own remark.
EXACTLY! And the reason they were cheering wasn't just because Obama made the comment, but because it looked like he finally grew a spine.
Imagine if Sarah Palin spent the day after her speech apologizing for making the speech and saying that she didn't mean to offend community organizers. She'd be a drag on the ticket and polling lower than Biden.
If Obama wanted to give his crowd red meat, he should have doubled down. "You heard me, Sarah. I called you a pig. Now if you can't handle that, maybe you should high tail your whiney little white butt back to Alaska."

. . . Hes giving red meat to his base here, but theyve already been locked in and fired up for a long time. Hes not helping himself with undecideds. Unless his staff is somehow under the impression that this lipstick attack will spur a tremendous turnout, it makes no sense to me.Maybe the base isn't as firm as we think it is - maybe their internal polling is showing something we aren't seeing in the public stuff. To quote a blogger, "Maybe that sound you hear is the sound of Gucci bags clicking shut all over the country."
Or maybe he's just a poseur.

Palin's lipstick comment is still fresh in the news cycle. BO should have known a comment like this would be tracked back to Palin, and he should have steered clear of mentioning lipstick. It proves he does not have the political experience to know that his political enemies, in the least, would latch onto those words and use them against him.
The press, and everyone else, look at speeches and extemporaneous comments made by everyone in public office to help them determine what they "really mean" - look at how the press analyzes what is said and not said during foreign negotitations, especially concerning the Russians or the Chicoms (yes, Chicoms).
If BO makes gaffes like this during a political campaign, what are we risking if he slips up as President? Are we willing to take that chance, just to "be progressive" and put a minority into the White House? Why not pick one of the many more seasoned and politically savvy minorities over BO (of which there are many)?
BO is not ready. His handlers are not "handling" him as well as they should - they are not "packaging" him correctly, or the bows and wrapping paper are coming off too soon.

Surely ....this is a mis-quote....Yes, Obama meant to say this was a makeup controversy, not a made up controversy.

“He is just surprised that WE understand exactly what he meant and are sick of his style politicing.”
BINGO! Just like his “flipping the finger” twice - he clearly thought it was so nuanced that only the elite “insiders” would get the double meaning. It’s arrogance, pure and simple. And his reaction - sputtering slams against those who DARE to call him on it - are also indicative of supreme arrogance.
He doesn’t just think little of women, he thinks little of everyone not in his circle of synchophants...
PS Phone post - pls forgive misspellings.

I’ve been around Nigerian men,,,they treat their women like slaves...don’t have time to write a book about it , but I have seen it alot...like slaves...we’d never even entertain the thought of the way I ‘ve seen them treat women.

Obama's
audience certainly heard it the same way the Republicans did.
Hence Obama is either vicious or stupid.
If he simply recited an old adage which he has used in the past, then he is stupid for not noticing that a line that used to get a yawn or a giggle suddenly caused the crowd to erupt in shouts and shrieks of laughter.
Or he is just vicious for using a slur yesterday, and not apologizing for it today.
